NEW YORK Mary Richardson Kennedy, the estranged wife of Robert F. Kennedy Jr., was found dead on the familys property north of New York City on Wednesday, two years after her husband filed for divorce and following a history of drug and alcohol problems.
Kerry A. Lawrence, a lawyer who had represented Mary Kennedy in a 2010 drunk driving case, confirmed the death, but neither he nor police in the town of Bedford in Westchester County, N.Y., released a cause of death. An autopsy was scheduled Thursday, the Associated Press reported.
According to a brief statement from Bedford police, officers were called to the Kennedy home in neighboring Mount Kisco at 1:36 p.m. Wednesday to investigate a possible unattended death. The statement said that officers found a deceased person inside an outbuilding on the property and that an investigation into the cause of death was underway.
Mary Kennedy, 52, was the second wife of Robert F. Kennedy Jr., a prominent environmentalist and lawyer who is the third child of Ethel and the late Sen. Robert F. Kennedy and a nephew of President Kennedy. The couple married in April 1994, about a month after his divorce from Emily Black. They had their first child, Conor, that summer. They also had a daughter, Kyra, and two more sons, William and Aiden.
Mary inspired our family with her kindness, her love, her gentle soul and generous spirit, the family of Robert Kennedy said in a statement, according to the AP.
Before marrying Robert Kennedy, Richardson had been a longtime friend of his sister Kerry. The two women met at Putney, a boarding school in Vermont, and later roomed together at Brown University, according to the 1999 book Girlfriends, by Jayne Wexler and Lauren Cowan.

I read a report where is was suicide. She hung herself.
Very sad for her children.
what an obscenely effed up family
Doesn’t Soros live in Bedford? I wonder where he was at the time.
I know it's weird sounding but true.

Mr Grammar..Gordon Liddy..used to harp on this one
Arkancide?
Or the Chicago Way?
The couple married a month after his divorce from Emily Black?
So, was it a whirlwind romance, or did they know each other before the divorce? Just wondering. You know some of those rumors about Kennedy men.
I haven’t heard him lecture us recently about global warming and other green issues.
Sad to hear that she killed herself.
But the media is already talking about the Kennedy curse and all that.
Why do we talk of a Kennedy curse?
The true tragedies of the Kennedy family were the assassinations of President Kennedy and Robert Kennedy. The media tend to put self-inflicted wounds such as Chappaquiddick and the William Kennedy Smith rape case into the Kennedy curse story line.
To me, there is a big difference between a political assassination, and cases where these Kennedys do unspeakable things to a teenage babysitter, underage if I recall correctly, go out and drink way too much and do stupid things, drive a car off a bridge and a girl passenger dies, etc.
Well it reads like they married in April, and their first child was born in July. I think it's safe to say they 'knew' each other well before the divorce.
I felt that way the most about John John’s plane disaster. His actions were completely irresponsible and arrogant, and so at odds with the memories of that poignant salute he gave. Makes you think he already knew the game then.
Sins of the father (Joe Kennedy) visited upon the 3rd & 4th generations.....
Sadly it is what happens when you worship the earth and find out it is an empty religion.
Pray for America
Almost the entire damn family’s a mess.
Possibly all.
"...plus a possible third assassination (JFK's son), plus a possible set-up for a murder charge (Ted Kennedy), "Strange world there
