Charles Krauthammer, the conservative columnist spoke about the use of drones for domestic spying last night.
He blasted the idea:
"A drone is a high-tech version of an old army. It ought to be used in Somalia to hunt bad guys but not in America. Yes you can say we have satellites, we have Google Street, we have everything else, but that is no reason to accept a society where you are always watched by the government.
"I would predict the first guy who uses a second amendment weapon to bring a drone down who is hovering over his house will become a folk hero."

I was thinking the same thing. Bonus points for hitting one at 30,000 feet.
First person to shoot down a spy drone from a R/C helicopter will become a folk hero who is not in jail.
I wonder if Estes makes a kit...
But he'll be a hero.

I would say more type civilian uses will be out there. It will be interesting to see the outcomes.
Some guy called into Levin last night,
claimed to have been working on the drone project for overseas use.
He said they have the ability to see through walls.
I’m not sure that I believe it all, but it is a huge 4th amendment issue if they start flying these over people’s farms looking for “violations”.
And here I was thinking I was the only one pondering methods to create a homemade MANPAD that could drop one of these drones.
Americans are very creative and it probably won’t take too long for a “civilian” to come up with a cheap, inexpensive Drone Buster. If that were to happen, I would suspect that this “Folk Hero” would probably be shortly working for one of the larger corporations that develop weapons for our military. :)
I assume that they are radio controlled.
I also assume that if it impossible to come up with a video key that cannot be broken it is also impossible to come up with a radio code that cannot be broken.
Therefore I also assume that someone will be able to take control of the drone and do whatever with it.
I think at those altitudes you’d either have to ‘laze’ it (mission kill on the sensors) or hit it with some kind of guided rocket.
Bonus points for hacking the data stream & taking control of it!
i’ll bring it to the taxidermist.
I guess you’ll have to ask the Iranians.
After all, ‘bammers gave them access to one of the drones so that they could hack it.

I suspect the first guy to bring down a drone will do so from behind a keyboard.
I always wanted to be a folk hero.
Just tell liberals that they will be used to catch acts of sodomy for prosecution and they will kill the whole program!
Should spur sales of 50mm weapons....
Whoa, that shook some cobb webs out of days past memories.
Now I'm wondering whaqt happened to my Heath Kit?
If I had a .50 cal, and knew I’d get away with it, I wouldn’t hesitate.
