African-American Church Leaders Condemn Obama For Gay Marriage Support

BALTIMORE (WJZ)– Just days after President Barack Obama announced his support for same-sex marriage, pastors and priests around Maryland took to their own pulpits with their reaction– and in some cases– condemnation of the president.

Derek Valcourt explains the president’s comments have folks on both sides of the issue fired up.

Both sides hope the president’s position helps sway votes in their favor when the issue hits Maryland’s ballot this November.

When Obama announced that his position on same-sex marriage had evolved, it outraged some African-American pastors like Pastor and Del. Emmett Burns.

“He has said to his base, African-Americans, ‘I am going against your beliefs and your thoughts,’” Burns said.

He’s so opposed to same-sex marriage, he told church members he will no longer support the president and now predicts Obama will lose the election because of it.

He and many other leaders are pouring their energies into gathering the signatures needed to put Maryland’s same-sex marriage law on the November ballot.

“I think it might be a call to action for people to really express what they believe,” Father Erik Arnold of Our Lady of Perpetual Help said.

In Maryland, some of the strongest opposition to the law has come from the black community– about 30 percent of the population. Some African-American religious leaders are preaching about it

“God said in every home, there needs to be a representation of his glory through manhood and femininity,” Pastor Harry Jackson, Hope Christian Church in Beltsville, said.

The Democrats want to first molest the minds of children and then molest their bodies later.

People just don’t want to pay public welfare benefits for two lunatics sodding off all day.

Muslims would just kill homosexuals.

Taking into consideration broken clocks tell the correct time twice each day, maybe “spread the other cheek” is not a good public policy.

Some of these black pastors might be thinking Obama does not share their convictions and that could take precedence over skin color for quite a few black Christians. There are wonderful black folks out there who, even if they don’t know it, have way more in common with other races than they do with Obama because he is not of their culture. He has not lived it, nor has he lived the hardship most whites have endured. I think Oprah gets it..She will just not let the public know...

Stop thinking all black folks are gonna fall in lock step...

If the idiot at Pennsylvania Ave most recent sellout had no affect on how the black community may vote (or if they vote), we wouldn’t even see news articles such as these. For those of you that were not raised in the hood, allow me to spell it out to you: Bonehead hit a 3rd rail in the black community.

I can also say that I have heard MANY of my fellow black folks stated they won’t be voting for him again (there have also been a few on TV). And do you know how many Tea Party groups were started by black folks? Are you aware of how many black folks have been ASSAULTED at tea party rallies by leftists?

... and these were people who made this decision long before he decided to go rainbow.

Folks, by ringing your hands thinking that all blacks are just stupid and vote for this idiot just because he is black , we are missing a golden opportunity. Fact is most blacks for democrat because the biggest employer in the black community is (surprise!)Government. So, unfortunate for many, voting for big government is a ‘pocketbook’ issue. I don’t like it either, but that’s the way it is.

But few thing pisses your average black person off more than some (biting my tongue) will stand up and claim their behavioral choice is equivalent to the civil rights movement of the past. Don’t believe me? Go find that black person you know and present that to them. Then stand back and watch the response. If I wanted to, I can decide to stop being a heterosexual tomorrow. But I can’t decide to become caucasian or hispanic next week. Sorry.

As for voting for president just because he is black, that may have worked in 2008, but this is 2012. He’s got a record. And if we can knock that 95% number even down to about 70%, that alone puts 8-10 blue states IN PLAY.

Some of you have written that if blacks don’t care about pols who support abortions, why would they care about one supporting the rainbow agenda?

ANS: many of them do, and you will hear the pastors scream against this as well(if you don’t believe me, go to a black church and get an earful). And btw, please do not believe every black pastor shares the views of the loud mouths from Chicago.

The Tea Party Types need a bonafied outreach program to minority communities right now. I could easily make point after point on how That idiot’s policies have directly impacted the black community - which by the way has gotten WORSE during his tenure (remember Michelle Bachmann talking about that?). And don’t think black folks haven’t noticed, either. The crap you see on that boob tube about blacks is only what they want you to see. And of one even thinks of stepping of the reservation... well, go ask Herman Cain or Juan Williams what can happen to you

I’ve already written too much when I should be working. But I’ll close by asking everyone that hasn’t seen it a previous post that I wrote when the that idiot hit the political 3rd rail last week

The fact that this thread originated from CBS Ballmer (!) is (imho) more evidence of the iceberg rising.

Given the historic strength of religious conservatism amongst the black demographic in America,
I think Ø has truly crapped in the proverbial messkit with this support of the nauseating vileness practiced by Sodomites.

And so the question becomes, in respect of the personal moral compass of said demographic, and regardless any 'outreach' or lack thereof :
Does each individual have the courage to vote their own conscience in spite of those whose sole aim is to pimp them into continued søcialist servitude ?

Because at the end of the day, all the sermons etc notwithstanding, it's a matter of personal integrity and living inside one's own skin, no matter its color.
