For the third year in a row, a narrow majority of Americans consider gay and lesbian relations morally acceptable, signaling that this is the new new normal in public opinion, according to a new Gallup Poll released Monday just days after President Barack Obama announced his support for same-sex marriage.
More than half of American adults, 54 percent, say gay or lesbian relations are morally acceptable including 66 percent of Democrats and just 36 percent of Republicans while 42 percent think they are morally wrong, Gallup found. Since 2010, a slight majority of Americans have found gay relations to be acceptable. Last year, 56 percent said same-sex relations are morally acceptable.
Americans acceptance of gays and lesbians as equal members of society has increased steadily in the past decade to the point that half or more now agree that being gay is morally acceptable, that gay relations ought to be legal, and that gay or lesbian couples should have the right to legally marry, Gallup said.

If people don’t go to church or read their Bibles or are taught by their parents that homosexuality is sinful, how would they know? Schools and media portray homosexuality as perfectly normal and healthy and a choice, so why would they not accept it?
Hopefully, the Dems will make gay marriage part of the 2012 party platform along with repeal of DOMA.
I hope so too because every time it’s been voted on the Gay Marriage advocates lose.
Wait until 2 guys are making out on tv in primetime, sure people will have same attitude then, (sarc)
I'm in my mid 20's and most people my age have no problem with gay marriage-they grew up with "acceptance" thrown at them..but they don't vote. Don't attack me I'm just giving facts.
Bowloney!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Just like 12% of the population is gay.
“Hopefully, the Dems will make gay marriage part of the 2012 party platform along with repeal of DOMA.”
Indiana Democrats, including the State PArty, are all running as far away from this as they can, as fast as they can.
The State Party leader today said “It’s not part of our Platform.”
It was defeated in California. The polls are fake.
Fortunately, “American Adults” don’t vote. Registered Voters don’t vote either. “Likely Voters” are the ones doing the voting and that’s what counts.
Polling public opinion is nice. But for issues decided at the ballot box the information you get is misleading at best and actually worthless.
When will polls ask whether the respondents know the rates of disease, violence, sex abuse, psychological breakdowns, and suicide among “gays?”
There is a huge difference between what people will say to a pollster to avoid appearing intolerant and what they will do in the privacy of a voting booth. (The Dems and gay activists just don't seem to be capable of understanding that simple concept. You'd think that they'd be very familiar with the idea of deceit.)
It wouldnt surprise me, ask yourself who on the national level is arguing that it’s immoral? FNC is very sympathetic to gays.
It seems like the other side is the only side fighting on this.
Right and Wrong are not things that are subject to the whim of fickle poll results.
These same people who consider Homosexuals morally acceptable believe that Kim Kardashian is a Virgin and that her porn video is a fake.
These are not committed opinions. They will change quickly as soon as an anti-gay marriage President is elected.
” It seems like the other side is the only side fighting on this.”
As usual
Are we sure this is still a Christian nation? If Christianity condones homesexuality I don’t want to be a part of it.
