The Politico ^ | May 11, 2012 | Donovan Slack

Gallup is out with a new poll suggesting a whopping 40 percent of Americans say President Obama's newly public support of gay marriage will affect their votes.

Of those, 26 percent say it will make them less likely to vote for Obama, while 13 percent say it will make them more likely to vote for him.

The critical number in the poll, though is for independents - 23 percent of whom said the gay marriage support makes it less likely they will vote for Obama.

The survey is the first since the president publicly endorsed gay marriage on Wednesday with unknown political fallout.

Gallup analyst Jeffrey Jones said that at first blush, it would appear the declaration is a "net minus" for Obama, although that could change....

Care to wager a guess who Gallup analyst Jeffrey Jones probably voted for last time, much less Mr. Slack?

How about odds on whether 0bama tries to re-spin his position on this to indicate that we all just did not understand that he meant he can tolerate gay marriages, but he is not really “for” them?

They knew it too and that’s why Obama didn’t support it in the past... well he did with a wink and a nod. They have these internal polls for every position they take.

But the cash was drying up and he needed the moolah to try and buy an election.

“Evolution” is not always a good thing. Barry should have waited until after the election to “evolve”. Oh well. His “evolving” allowed him to pick up $16 million yesterday. Hell, I’d “evolve” all day long for $16 mil.

Why worry about buying what you are setting up to steal, what with open borders, a campaign against voter ID, support of Black Panther white voter intimidation, and funding of Acorn subsidiaries/successors?

“although that could change....”

Because the largely-gay U.S. Media is now FIRMLY behind him.

Anyone with half a brain would assume that an announcement favoring gay marriage was at the very least very risky and probably a net vote killer. Since it seems aimed at procuring funds, one wonders if Obama is actually angling for an exit policy geared towards having a full war chest when he leaves the game.

Questions: What happens to a Presidential candidate’s political war chest once they leave the political stage? Is it possible that Obama knows he won’t win and just wishes to line his pockets?

What he will come back with is that it was a "federalist" stance he took, i.e. leaving it to the states to decide, and that will be his "out." (pun intended).

What is interesting is to see articles like Gawker and others tearing into Obie for the same reason.

It will all go down and as a "he did it for the money." once the hangover wears off, and it will cost him in the election.

It also caused a distraction from the economic issues, which is exactly what he wanted.

I wonder how many of those went from "a snowball's chance in Hell" to "less than a snowball's chance in Hell."

That's how I see it. Barry has rewritten the playbook for American politics. "I'm the president! They can't touch this!" The arrogant bass turd.

Correct.
Also correct that the Democrats were going to have convention floor fights on this topic. Remember, we have most liberal activists on record that anyone not 100% in favor of gay marriage is a backwoods hateful bigot.

The Democrats are going to purge anyone not for gay marriage, just like they purged the pro-lifers. Liberals write the checks and drive the agenda, and anyone not liking it will have to get off the bus, or will be put UNDER the bus.

The net result is anyone against gay marriage will to think twice about voting Democrat. You are voting for people who hate you.
