Perfect, brother Jim.

Humblegunner: we now have a complete and solid guideline, and support for the elimination of the blogpimpers. Blog people? They are fine. Blog PIMPERS? Skull and crossbones.

Jim, I’d like to point out something else as well. Posting the full text on FreeRepublic can raise the article’s visibility across all search engines as well, drawing even more reader’s to the bloggers work. And of course, the bigger the article, the more words to catch search engine traffic with.

Frequently, I’ll find a search engine reference to a post on FreeRepublic before the search engine has even indexed the article on the original site.

Two powerful FReeper writers come to mind straight away, Bray and JohnHuang2.

Bray writes a wonderful column every Saturday, which is re-posted on the Sunday News show thread. I miss JH2's "My 2 Cents".

I know several FReepers who are also prolific writers. If some of them don't find this thread on their own, they're gonna get a ping or FR mail!

Right on. This is good for FR.

I’d like to point out one thing to potential bloggers. Our (FR’s) copyright, excerpt, and link-only policies still apply to blog material posted in full here. If your article includes someone’s copyrighted material, the mods may have to pull your article in order to comply with FR policy. Don’t be offended. The mods will likely allow you to repost your article with the copyrighted material properly excerpted or linked. Our mods are very reasonable about unintentional mistakes. (Well, except for Sidebar. I’ve heard he shoots bloggers for too many misspellings.)

Now who are the mods that I need to suck up to? My your hair looks nice today, Sidebar. And Admin Mod, you look like you’ve lost weight. What’s your secret? Oh, and Religion Mod, that was a very intuitive judgment call you made earlier. You have the wisdom of Solomon and the patience of Job. And, Jim, ...

Too much? ;p

Good news, but does this mean I have to start a blog? Maybe Humblegunner will help guide me?

Jim, can a blogger copyright his own original material?

(Look. You know me. I excerpt virtually everything I post here.)

When I post from blogs, I excerpt. The one exception is when a blog article has a disclaimer that looks something like this: “This can be posted in its entirety as long the author/publication is credited.”

I do this because the handful of blogs I post from the researchers have gone to a great deal of time and effort to research and write their articles. Other times; it is because there are graphs, charts, tables I cannot copy and paste correctly. Once in awhile, I do not post complete articles because some of the material is not suitable for all age groups.

Finally, when a person complains that he does not understand the content of the excerpt — please go on to the next thread. Apparently the thread you are reading is not for you. Really.

My opinion fwiw.

Thanks for all the support Jim, you are the MAN!

And, as a big bonus, if our moderating staff sees that you are an accepted, trusted member they may promote your work to the main news forum.

I would like to stand as proof that JR is being honest. I had a post that was kept in breaking news for a full 3 days before it was allowed to be moved down the list.

So be a good blogger and share your full post with FR, it does increase your hits and your reputation as a blogger will improve. Ask anyone who has read my posts and they will tell you that I speak the truth.

So how would a time-sensitive campaign petition be handled? Is it better to post in the blogger forum as you suggest, so as not to be a blog pimp?
