The man accused of setting up a fake Navy Veterans charity and siphoning away tens of millions of dollars pleaded not guilty in an Ohio courtroom Tuesday, but still has refused to identify himself.
"If he wants to go by the name 'Mr. X,' we'll prosecute him as 'Mr. X,' " said prosecutor Brad L. Tammaro, chief legal counsel for the Ohio Attorney General.
The judge addressed the defendant as Bobby Thompson, an identity that he allegedly stole from a Washington state man. "Thompson" appeared in the courtroom in an orange jump suit, shackles, handcuffs, and a pair of black Crocs. Through his court-appointed lawyer, Mark Stanton, he pleaded not guilty and revealed that he wishes to serve as his own attorney.
He uttered only three words at the very end of his arraignment, when the judge asked him to affirm that he wishes to represent himself. "Yes, your honor," was his quiet reply. < snip >

Sounds like Bobby Thompson hit another home run.
What does it matter? Who he was, is meaningless. He is a case number, now. Playing silly games with names is not going to put him on the street.
Why not post a picture of him in newspapers and on the Internet? Someone knows him.
So, if I commit a Felony - does everyone have the right to commit crimes against the public, yet remain anonymous? I didn’t find that “right” anywhere in the Constitution. Part of the penalty of being charged with a crime, is the public being aware that “Johnny” is suspected of doing something.
It seems this man felt entitled to defraud the public out of millions, and now is entitled to remain anonymous too. I don’t think he is entitled to any more, or less, anonomity than any other person.
This link shows the pictures of the scum bag.

Bobby Thompson aka Mr. X will represent himself in his trial
Assuming they’ve fingerprinted him their inability to identify him at least means he’s never been in the Armed Forces.
Check out dem eyebrows!
Accurate identity(ies) may prove useful to recover some of the missing funds.
That’s a very punchable face, right there.
Well said Love your tagline
His real name is Remington Steele...
His history, his family, anything other than his guilt or innocence has nothing to do with his trial. All these demands for a "name" are nothing more than Socialist controls that you all have bought into, without even realizing it.
Can you name one trial, in which a person was tried anonymously? Certainly, if your intent is to use the Founding Fathers as an example, you can find a few trials performed prior to this century in which the accused was tried without a name.
You're asking me to prove a negative. You've really had your brain dry-cleaned by the control freaks.
Until the advent of fingerprints, it was common procedure to change your name, after you were released from prison. Remember, the whole idea of "positive ID" is only about 120 years old.
Of course, until recently, going to prison was considered payment for a crime, and they were forgiven, having "paid their debt." They weren't branded, more effectivly than Banished Cain, after they were released. Now, society can make sure they can never hold a paying job, till the day they die. That's an improvement, alright.
Somehow, I'm willing to wager that someone went to jail under a name that was not his own before then. Also note that "Mr. X" is not nameless. He just doesn't have a name that can be traced.
Yup, because pretty much as a rule - a person is charged with a crime. When the person is charged, his name is entered. You see, the Police have this "form" and the "form" has an entry that says "Name". With me so far? Now believe it or not, the Courts have forms with this "Name" entry in them too!
You've really had your brain dry-cleaned by the control freaks.
Another personal attack? Do you read the rules on the posts about personal attacks, or do these rules not apply to you? I'm debating a very specific point - and if you have nothing better to add - admit you are intellectually incapable of debating this point and leave the name-calling to the 5th graders.

Yup, you see it's kind of a "dis-incentive" to take on a life of crime, and preying upon innocent citizens. As a businessman, I have a lot of "innocent" people all applying for a job. A convicted felon has demonstrated that he has no integrity, that he will prey, steal or abuse any trust that has been placed with him. It makes my life very easy, in that I will immediately reject his application and focus on qualified people who have "somehow" managed not to be predetor, who have not stolen, forged, raped, dealt in illegal activities - and I have a group of people whom I can give the benefit of the doubt. Society may have "forgiven" his crimes, but I doubt the victims have, and I know that "I" haven't. My business, my employees, my family and my customers have an expectation that they will not be placed in danger of theft, or other abuses from the people I opt to bring into my company. This just makes basic sense.
As a private citizen, I do not associate myself with released prisonsers - because I consider myself, my family and my friends "Better" than them. Yes, as in they are "inferior" in every respect to me, my pets and the squirrel in my neighbors tree. You see, my family, my friends, the squirrel and I have not preyed upon someone else and either hurt them, or stolen items from them. We contribute to society, we benefit those we know, we give our families something to take pride in. Pretty simple stuff.
If you don't like it - then I would encourage you not to break the laws. Pretty simple stuff, most of which children learn in Kindergarten. "Criminals thrive on the indulgence of society's understanding".
BANG! You're a convicted felon.
The libs, and dim, self-righteous red-necks, like you, have loaded the dice, recently, with any number of new and interesting ways of becoming "a predator."
Look up what it takes to get a felonious conviction for not having enough money to pay your bills.
Thanks to MADD, and other such psycho organizations, the prisons are bulging. It seems like, if they can't put everyone under the Federal Thumb one way, en mass, they are willing to do it one at a time.
Time was, you had to do a deliberate crime to become a felon. What until some sweet young thing gets an ambitious local DA and lies before a judge about how you hit her. She's got the bruises, and you don't have an alibi.
By the time you finish paying the lawyers, you'll be in a homeless shelter, with a 'felon' label to keep you warm. Then let's discuss your attitudes. And before you say it can't happen, look it up. Ask Phil Hartman about domestic violence... Oh that's right. It's a Long Distance Call.
Look at the Lautenburg Laws to see is required for you to lose your Constitutional rights.
(A good friend got flushed down the tubes, that way, and I couldn't believe it could happen.)
