This is horrible! These radical Tea Party nuts are set to take down one of our most needed mature adult voices in the Senate!

This is really sad.
Lugar should have read the tea leaves and announced his retirement instead of leaving the senate like this.
To: mdittmar
What is it about these old-guard politicians that make them retire so ungracefully. Lugar has been in the Senate since 1977. Retire with dignity, not with the democrats!

With all due respect to Sen. Lugar, it’s high time we get some new people in Congress.

Anyone know if Lugar could pull a Lieberman and run as an independent if he loses the primary?

Lugar's attitude and actions are why I generally don't vote for the GOP any more.
I will vote for a real conservative with an R by their name, but it's been long years since I voted GOP all the way down the ticket.

I can’t think of a better term than “last ditch” for this useless POS and what I’d like to see happen for him. Just as long as it’s “last”.

Dead wood Lugar is out. They’ve called it for the tea party guy.
Good first news of the day. Hope many more are handed their exit pass.
