My FRiends, we might as well face the reality that we the combined pro-life conservative movement and tea party coalition have lost this round (the presidential election) in the larger battle to reclaim our constitution and our inalienable rights. Rove, Romney and the GOP-e have successfully destroyed and driven off each and every pro-life conservative tea party candidate from the race and all have surrendered to the Romney camp. It is no secret that Romney is not one of us. There is absolutely no doubt that he has never accomplished a single conservative thing in his entire political career (one term as liberal governor of liberal Massachusetts and six years campaigning for president). In Massachusetts, he undeniably championed abortion, gay rights, global warming, gun control, big government statist mandated/socialized health care programs, liberal judges, TARP, bailouts, stimulus spending, debt limit increases, etc, and even though he's recently claimed a complete reversal in political beliefs and no longer despises pro-life conservatives or the time of Reagan-Bush, I still don't trust him. He still stubbornly holds on to some of his statist beliefs, like global warming, gays in the military, RomneyCare, stimulus spending, etc, so there is no way I can vote for him or join Cain, Perry, Bachmann, Newt or any others who are endorsing him. But I will not act on my prior promises that I would actively campaign against him if he wins the nomination. Our combined movement is already torn and splintered and is going to have to be mended if we're going to have any impact whatsoever against the liberal/progressives and statists after the election. To that end I propose a TRUCE among our conservative forces during the remainder of this election cycle.
We conservatives have already lost the presidency to either the Dems or the GOP-e, and if we tear the tea party apart, if we tear the pro-life movement apart, if we tear FR apart then we lose it all. It's far more important that we re-unite and live to fight another day. Even if we can't vote for a true conservative for the presidency, it's doubly important that we all turn out on election day or sooner and drag our friends, neighbors, relatives, co-workers, etc, to the polls to vote straight conservative for every slot on our ballots. The only way we can win our freedom back is to vote out the liberal progressives and vote in as many liberty loving conservatives as is humanly possible into every elected office at every level of government all across this great land. To prevent a total loss to the dems or GOP-e, we must continue the tea party rebellion into November and beyond. Whatever else you may do, you must turn out and vote straight tea party conservative down ticket!!
We must continue expanding our inroads into the state houses and into every elective office in the land. We must continue building on our majority in the house and we must retake the senate!! We must help the conservative governors and state legislatures to fully restore the ninth and tenth amendments and reclaim the real political power away from the federal usurpers and return it to the states and the people per the constitution!! This way, regardless of who wins the presidency, we can cut his unconstitutional expansionist movements off at the knees. And if any executive, civil officer or judge dares commit impeachable offenses, we must hold the majorities so we can impeach and remove them from office!!
And we must salvage and rebuild and continue strengthening our conservative pro-life, pro-family, pro-gun, pro-borders, pro-constitution, pro-small government, pro-defense, pro-liberty movements and our tea party coalition. And we must stop ripping each other apart!!
Therefore I hereby propose a general truce among our conservative forces!!
The Republic we save may be our own!!
As far as FR's finances go, we're in the same boat as the rest of the economy and will have to make do with what we can raise. Fortunately, the big debts we ran up a couple years ago have been paid off. We borrowed approx $20,000 a few years ago from two FReepers to fund our national convention, plus we ran up another $20,000 in legal fees during the last couple of years fighting off Righthaven. But those are now behind us and paid off. We also did quite a bit of traveling each year for the last three years on cross country tea party tours, but I think we can now cut that back and remove it from our budget requirements. If we're fortunate enough to not incur any additional legal costs or equipment costs (other than what we've already planned), and cut the travel and a few other areas, we should be able to tighten our belts enough to weather the storm even if we fail to reach our short term fundraising goals.
Whatever the outcome of the elections, we are prepared to roar into 2013 with the tea party chewing up liberal/progressives and RINOs and raising hell in our never ending fight for liberty!!
We are the resistance!!
Let's take the enemy head-on instead of fighting each other!!
Damn the torpedoes, full steam ahead!!
For years now I have added material to the Romneytruthfile. Because of that extensive reading, I’m convinced the Mitt Romney is a flip-flopping, pro-abortion, pro-gay marriage, pro-gun control, pro-obamacare, pro-big government, 3rd way, elitist social corporatist.
I really have no doubts about that summary.
Does this truce mean I can no longer post the truth about Mitt Romney? IF so, does it mean that Romney-bots are prevented from posting positive campaign threads about Mitt Romney?
Does it mean I cannot post information positive toward the candidacy of Virgil Goode, the only conservative remaining in the race for the presidency?
For years, Free Republic has loudly proclaimed Mitt Romney to be a lying liberal of the first order. Any sudden reversal of that position would appear to impartial observers to be a sudden caving in plus a healthy dose of hypocrisy.
Is it possible for me to post truth about Romney and other campaigns and NOT bad-mouth fellow freepers at the same time? Yes, it is possible. I’m not in the habit of bad-mouthing freepers anyway.
If you believe that, then I can't help you. All I can pray is that CWII ends happily with part of the country, hopefully the South regaining their freedom. Ignorance is evil, look in the mirror.
IMHO, it’s a shame that the majority of conservative voters/very conservative voters won’t, willingly, come together and vote “a protest vote” for Virgil Goode of the Constitution Party for ‘12 POTUS! If such a political movement by conservative voters/very conservative voters really did happen, then it would, also, send a message to all of those opposed to U.S. conservatism in any way, shape, or form. It’s too bad that it won’t, actually, happen, and it’s another missed opportunity by conservatives to send a serious message to everybody else in the political spectrum. Correct, or incorrect?
Even better, take a picture of Holder with you.
Who the hell are you?

I know it’s bizarre, but the reality is that the Federal Government spending is past the tipping point.
Put Ron Paul in office, balance the budget now, and it’s likely that compounding interest payments will still swallow us up. And that’s with ending all welfare, medicare, and half the defense budget. No one has the stomach for that, so we are therefore doomed.
We shouldn’t feel too bad, it’s not our fault, it’s the way all democracies ultimately fail. The USA is no different. If we want to blame someone, Woodrow Wilson and his ilk are probably the best targets. Direct election of senators, enabling monopoly money instead of gold, the income tax all enabled the rapid expansion of government leading to the current predicament.
Obama doesn’t see it as a problem, but neither does Romney, and the longer it goes on, the harder the crash. So let’s crash now and do everything in our power to hasten the crash while preparing for ourselves.
1. Get out of debt immediately as fast as you can.
2. Emergency fund: have one, make sure you can last 6-12 months with no income.
3. Are you dependent on any outside checks? SS? Pensions of any sort? Consider how to survive if those checks stop coming.
I could go on but you get the idea. For the next few years it’s head between the knees and brace for impact.
Unlike Jim Robinson who’s presidential vote doesn’t matter in the solid Obama state of California, your presidential vote in Pennsylvania could make a difference. Your non vote or third party vote could be the tie breaker or the margin over the top. Your vote for Romney could be the margin over the coming Philadelphia fraud.
Do you want Obama? You have the important task in a swing state to prevent his reelection.
Romeny? Obama?
WOW, what a terrific thread we are on. I’m just finding this, and there is no way to catch up.
Thanks, Jim R., for this!
Well, that may be one possibility but I would rather think that since Mitt only got 1/3 of the vote most of the time and actually lost many of the earlier primaries, the lesson is that the 2/3 conservative vote was split over too many candidates.
Somehow, and I'm not sure how, if the conservatives ever expect to elect a candidate, they've got to get behind one guy or we will never get past GOP-e.
I could get behind that. Currently my plan is tea party down ticket while casting a strategic Obama vote to protest the GOP.
Figuring that at this point any 3rd party candidate that gets less than 1% is ignored. However if a consensus develops here and other places that Virgil is the rallying point for conservatives disillusioned with the GOP and he develops a following, I’m in.
Well, you’re perfectly fine with that it seems. Doing nothing to assure Barry Soetoro doesn’t get a second term is the only way to stop it.
You will have a problem seeing a true consensus through all the sanctimonious self righteous smoke
Yes it will, precisely in the manner I outlined.

Of course it will, short of a miracle, it’s over. I voted for Newt in my state, I tried to keep Romney out but the voters have spoken and it is what it is.
Anyone that on here that would vote o bama is liberal troll and I don’t care what your sign up date it.
Last I heard; there is still something called the Confirmation Process.

and how did that work out with the wise Latino and the commie Kagan?
Good post.
IMHO, given the huge lurch to the left, it may take more time to kick it back towards Conservative candidates.
Priming the pump with Conservatives in the state and local elections will only help long-term. They will need a lot of support though.
Obama’s failure is perhaps a long-term bright spot for conservatives. He’s a perfect example of the clueless nature of the liberal beast.
I hope the combination of young men and women who have served, plus the present disillusionment of college grads trying to find work, will motivate them to the right...
Never give up!
Same. Who cares what his sign up date he’s openly saying he’s voting for Obama. Thats utter BS on a supposedly conservative site.
I second that heartily! This country cannot survive four more years of Obama!
Free-Republic was around in May of 1996?
And then what do they do? They send sappy, glittering pictures to one another with expressions of friendship.

I’ve participated in that..... BUT let me explain. I always check the past posting history first and I only celebrate if they were a troll or a liberal. I never celebrate just to join the crowd. If I think the zot was ridiculous I either say nothing, put a question mark or make a comment. I have not and do not celebrate mods gone wild zots.
