And they cried out again, Crucify him. Then Pilate said unto them, Why, what evil hath he done? And they cried out the more exceedingly, Crucify him.
Mark 15:13-14 (KJV)
In a less-than-shocking piece of news this week, we have learned that the EPA is in fact the New Praetorian Guard. You thought their job was protecting the trees and the butterflies? Unfortunately not. A high-level manager has given the game away. Their job is crucifixion of the capitalists.
Prior to falling on his sword today to protect "the cause", ordinary EPA manager Al Armendariz related the following:
"I was in a meeting once, and I gave an analogy to my staff about my philosophy of enforcement, and I think it was probably a little crude and maybe not appropriate for the meeting, but I'll go ahead and tell you what I said. It was kind of like how the Romans used to conquer little villages in the Mediterranean. They'd go into a little Turkish town somewhere, they'd find the first five guys they saw, and they would crucify them. And then, you know, that town was really easy to manage for the next few years. So, that's our general philosophy."
Note, it's not "his" general philosophy. It's "our" general philosophy.
What's really fascinating about this is how liberals in fact do understand human nature, despite their claims to the contrary.
They pretend to not understand how the death penalty is a deterrent. But when it comes to attacking their free market capitalist enemies, they understand just fine.
There are several hundred evil criminals on death row who could use this this enlightened liberal approach right now.
The EPA is the worst agency in Washington, bar none. If the next Republican president does not disband it the first week in office, twenty million of us will be moving to a new party the following week.
The Praetorian Guard was in Rome protecting the Emperor.
They had nothing at all to do with Palestine or the Crucifixion.
Richard Nixon started the EPA. Does anyone believe Republicans would end it?
fyi
I’d just let it go. The post ranks up there with Bluto’s inspirational speech to the Deltas in ‘Animal House’.
“Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor?”
WRONG!
The original intent of the law (as sold by Congress) was to identify threats to the physical and biological environment resulting from proposed projects that crossed state lines. Fact finding only, presumably real science. No law or rule making authority was intended!
The results of their findings would be dealt with by elected (and presumably accountable) representatives in Congress.
How it changed into the new Environmental SS remains a mystery to me to this day. Dereliction of Congressional obligation is the briefest (and kindest) way I can put it.
I have to fill out epa’s monthly report tomorrow. Not looking forward to it!
What an effing little worm.
Interesting information, would like to see a picture of an original document with that info.
Then why weren’t they named the Environmental Investigation Agency? Protection implies some kind of action.
Also, we don’t really have an emperor today!
I think it’s poetic license
Yep. From the piece: “Prior to falling on his sword today...”
What kind of business?
>Richard Nixon started the EPA. Does anyone believe Republicans would end it?
When was the last time there was an agency disbanded?
{This does NOT include agency-renaming, “folded-into” or transferred-most-of-its-employees-to situations.}
Public Utility, water. Privately owned.
Don't be silly.
First of all, this is not Richard Nixon's EPA. And yes, I not only believe that Republicans could end it, I think they SHOULD.
Sooner rather than later.
So it’s more than just oil companies...eh.!
I’m sure Lisa Jackson will arrange for him to be moved to a less conspicuous place in the federal bureaucracy. They can’t have such an idiot leave government completely.
