NORTH BEND, Wash. (AP) After a 22-hour standoff, police blew the top off a rugged mountain bunker near Seattle on Saturday, only to find their target a man believed to be a murder suspect who holed up there dead of a self-inflicted gunshot wound inside.
Authorities had not positively identified the body as 41-year-old Peter Keller, who hadn't been seen since his wife and daughter were found shot to death last weekend, King County sheriff's Sgt. Katie Larson said.
A bomb squad cleared the bunker, built into a ridge in the Cascade Mountains, to make sure there were no booby-traps before detectives entered. Officers shouted warnings before blowing the roof, Larson said. Tear gas pumped into the bunker didn't work on Friday. With clear weather and a fresh SWAT team in place Saturday morning, it was time to act more aggressively, she said.

Anyone missing around here lately? Bump!
what!????
Good
What good is a secret bunker if people know where, or generally where, it is?
I was reading it that the sheriff’s body was found in the bunker. Kept looking for who shot the sheriff kind of thing...
On the loose and in his bolthole?
Blow the bunker¿?The jamokes are playing with their toy
Execution first sentence later.
I shot the sheriff, but I didn't shoot no deputy, no no...
I happened to hear this story on ABC Radio today and it was at least two (maybe three) times that they described this man as a “survivalist.” AP put this in their story: “Keller, a gun enthusiast described by his family as having a “survivalist mentality.” And of course, we know that those survivalists are always up to no good.
i have a few suspicions. lol. (sort of)
yeah and also pictures left around the house. i wonder if that was intentional though. maybe he wanted the hunt to end there.
in this case i would call this description accurate. too bad they used the gun enthusiast wording though as there are plenty of gun enthusiasts that aren’t whack jobs or mentally imbalanced like this dud.
I watched the local early morning news this morning.
They must have used the word “bunker” 150 times! And no, I’m NOT EXAGGERATING!
of the latter point on my last point we all know this, but it is implied in the use of that description.
If it had had an arch anywhere in or on it, you can guess what they would have called it then.
I heard this story on ABC radio news last night. They interviewed the Sheriff of King Co. Steve Strachan is his name. I was best man at his wedding, best friends all through High School.
