A proposal from the Obama administration to prevent children from doing farm chores has drawn plenty of criticism from rural-district members of Congress. But now its attracting barbs from farm kids themselves.
The Department of Labor is poised to put the finishing touches on a rule that would apply child-labor laws to children working on family farms, prohibiting them from performing a list of jobs on their own families land.
Under the rules, children under 18 could no longer work in the storing, marketing and transporting of farm product raw materials.
Prohibited places of employment, a Department press release read, would include country grain elevators, grain bins, silos, feed lots, stockyards, livestock exchanges and livestock auctions.
The new regulations,(first proposed) August 31 by Labor Secretary Hilda Solis, would also revoke the governments approval of safety training and certification taught by independent groups like 4-H and FFA, replacing them instead with a 90-hour federal government training course.
Rossie Blinson, a 21-year-old college student from Buis Creek, N.C., told The Daily Caller that the federal governments plan will do far more harm than good.
The main concern I have is that it would prevent kids from doing 4-H and FFA projects if theyre not at their parents house, said Blinson.
This is an illegal immigrant jobs bill. The farm work must be done by someone.
Already, in this area, there are no “teen” jobs, they are all taken by illegals.
This bill extends that into food production.
???
who’s gonna de-tassle corn?
Yet the same federal government and Congress will lament the demise of the family farm and think up new subsidies to protect farming from corporate interests.
Is this something that can be voted down?
I know folks want to reduce this to a matter of the marxist in chief's chitown politics, but it is bigger than that. It is another brick in the police state wall that has been put up around us with nary a peep.
Molon labe on this one. What will they do, come onto the family farms and arrest kids? Let ‘em come!
Don’t be silly. The Department of Labor will simply declare that corn doesn’t need to be de-tassled.
Ignore this rule and let the Dept of Labor attempt to enforce it.
Sound Good to Me!
Show of hands...how many people think these rules are going to be ignored, and that at some point a County Sheriff is going to become involved; depending on their politics either with or against the farm owner?
I am of the firm belief that County Sheriff’s are one of the last lines of defense against the rampant Federalism that is overtaking our country. Men like Joe Arapio, and countless others, are the ones who will be/are on the front line acting as a defender/trip wire in the coming battle.
> What will they do, come onto the family farms and arrest

No, they will arrest the parents and fine them into penury so they have to work menial jobs in the city.
If you resist, they will kill you.
Just another step in their plan to cut people off from producing their own food.
If they control the food supply (that is, the ‘means of production’ for food), then very few people can control many.
Get hybrid seeds.
Learn how to start them.
Learn how to plant them.
Learn how to grow them.
Learn how to harvest the seeds to plant the following season.
Aquaponics, baby.
Oh, goody, now rural folks can raise lazy, good for nothing, video game playing little miscreants just like city folk do!
And there will be less competition for the illegal aliens.
I think the abunch of government morons are eager for a civil war.
I started operating my father farm tractor when I was 12 years old
So some Policy Wonk in size five black wings tips is going to show the 4-H club how it’s done?!
I wonder what Willie Nelson, John Cougar Mellencamp and all of their Farm Aid cohorts have to say about this?
On second thought, I think I know...
> So some Policy Wonk in size five black wings tips is going

Look for the metrosexual queens to try to modify the focus and compass of 4-H in the coming years.
Remember, these fairies have jack-booted thugs from Treasury Dept. to do their bidding.
We have a small farm where our kids work, too. We will not comply. Neither will our neighbors. None of us will rat out any of the others.
If the fairies come with their thugs, it’s a signal to me that America is fallen, and we need to seek another home.
I actually find this a bit frightening because in prior years, even the most liberal Democrat administration was still afraid to take on the farmers.
This one seems to have no fear whatsoever.
