The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Tuesday shows that Mitt Romney earns 48% of the vote, while President Obama attracts support from 44%. Four percent (4%) would vote for a third party candidate, while another 4% are undecided.

As the U.S. Supreme Court prepares to hear the federal government’s challenge to Arizona’s immigration law, 59% of voters believe police officers should check the immigration status of those they stop for traffic violations. However, as Scott Rasmussen notes in a radio commentary, voter anger is not directed at the immigrants. It is directed at the federal government, employers and others who enable illegal immigration.
Most Americans believe the price of gas could reach $5 a gallon in the next few months. Forty-four percent (44%) believe government regulations are primarily to blame, while 32% point to speculators.
Three-out-of-four Americans (75%) would prefer the U.S. Postal Service cut mail delivery to five days a week rather than receive government subsidies to cover ongoing losses.

Mitt has a chance. Obama could become only the second modern incumbent that replaced the other party to lose his re-election...the only other president to do that was Jimmah....
Mitt was not my first choice...but I will easily vote for him in the general election.
Starting with www.270towin.com, it currently has 181 EVs for Romney, with 161 undecided.
IMO, the best path from there to get 0bama out of the White House is to add:
FL - 29
NC - 15
VA - 13
MO - 10
IA - 6
That is 73 more, bringing MR to 254.
Then pick one of PA (20), OH (18), or MI (16), and 0bama is gone.
I think NH (4) will go to Romney as well.
Obviously, the VP choice is key. I think Gov Nikki Haley of SC would be a solid choice on many levels, helping to deliver the Southern states and also the women’s vote.
I think it is an advantage for Romney that the RNC convention is the week before the DNC. If he chooses Haley, he can get the message out and take the initiative. Presumably, 0bama will stick with Biden, and it will look like status quo for the DNC.
If he dumps Biden and chooses Hillary!, all bets are off. Hillary! just might agree to this as it would set her up for 2016.
First and foremost, we have to get 0bama out of the White House.

What about all these recent polls, showing Obama leading among women, and the whole war on women issue?
What about recent polls showing that Obama has a big lead among swing voters in the battleground states?
Are these other polls for real, or are they slanted polls? Or are they propaganda, to convince people that Obama is more popular than he really is???????

I won't. Even if it means four more years of Obama - I will NOT vote for Romney. Yes, I know. I don't care. The GOP Establishment forced this poser down our throats and they can all got straight to.... (do I sound bitter?)

I can, due to the state I live in, not vote for Romney and not help Obama.
Those who are in swing states either vote for Romney or help Obama’s re-election.
The math is that simple.
In the end, the rank and file GOP voters pulled the levers for this mutt Romney.
We need to acknowledge the reality that people like McCain and Romney are not RINOs. They pretty much represent the majority of the party.
We conservatives are the outliers. We are the ones who stray from the current party mission and goals.
If we're Republicans at all, it's only because the Democrats suck so much ass. Like Mayo, we got nowhere else to go.

I would guess 3% are grumpy Republicans that will eventually hold their noses and climb on board.

Actually these numbers seem to be “holding steady” from the last polls about a week ago.
I would expect that these numbers are going to become “the baseline” of the campaign, and the struggle will be for either candidate to push for 51% in the relatively few states where it’s going to make a difference.
It’s going to end up a very close contest.

i agree but isn’t she being investigated right now? I bet dark clouds will be over her head the entire campaign just like Palin. The dirty media (insert curse) will replay their program from 2008.
I’d love Haley but they will drag her through more mud than we knew existed.
I do thinkFReepers have created a false choice.
A. The republican party has forced RINOs on us consistently and they take conservativestotallyfor granted. We need a new conservative party.
And
B. We need to fight having an enemy of America as our President.
They are not mutually exclusive. We thought that our grassroots Tea party was enough to get a conservative candidate, but the RINOS in power (media) hated it more than the Dems. It has been a good start and we must create a true political party for 2016, soon.
But we also need to choose the American Democrat Romney rather than the foreign communist USA hater, working for enemy interests.
We can do both these things.

It was and we did, but conservatives could not agree on a single conservative and so mittens won out.

Believe it or not, I still haven't voted in a primary, but will vote for Newt when the day finally comes. But I know I'm just kicking a dead horse. I like the thud sound.
Seriously, I suspect that the vast majority of those who want someone else are Republicans, and most will in the end hold their noses and vote for Mitt, So, let's give him 3 of that 4%.
Then, historically, late deciders usually break for the new guy..IOW..they vote against the incumbengt..so let's give Mittens another 3 of that 4%.
That means you're potentially looking now at a 54-46 vote for Romney..
But there is no way that Florida votes for Obama again. The state is trending solidly RED. In 2010, we had a pretty bitter primary for governor, yet still managed to retire Crist and wipe out the Dem in the general.
WE win Florida, and also send Nelson into retirement..
