Virgil Goode giving his acceptance speech now at the convention. Thanking the other candidates for all their hard work running in this race and those in our national party that have worked hard over the years for our party.
Short of the GOP booting the Socialist Willard, I’m going Goode.
Goode should have gotten that realtor’s license.
They are indeed against unconstitutional wars.
"We condemn the presidential assumption of authority to deploy American troops into combat without a declaration of war by Congress, pursuant to Article I, Section 8 of the U.S. Constitution."
However, I see things differently than you probably do.
Bush had congressional approval to use force on Iraq. Something Ron Paul and the Liberatarians refused to recognize, because although congress approved the use of force they didn't use the magic words "Declare War On".
Obama did not have congressional approval to use force on Libya, because the only standing authority was to use force in the event of an imminent threat to the U.S. and Libya wasn't in any way an imminent threat.
If Romney seals the Republican nomination, I’m voting for Virgil Goode and I think we need to do all we can to promote him. This is not a “wasted vote” or a rebellion, but a vote based on principle. When I vote I stand before God, my family and my country. How other people vote should not be the basis for my constitutional right to vote.
Go Virgil!
Thanks for the reply. But really there is no excuse for not using the ‘magic words’. UN resolutions does not cut it for me nor does a Constitutional work-around of ‘serious consequences’. Unite the nation ask congress for a formal declaration of war. Why not?
“No offense guys but, seriously?”
Read the Constitution Party’s platform and then look who the Republicans appear ready to nomninate. The choice is clear.
Unless Republicans change course, I’ll be voting Constitution party.
Well I feel your pain but the reality is it’s going to be either Romney or Obama and the country may not survive another 4 years of Obama.
Will you vote for Goode, if he’s on the Illinois ballot? I voted for four Constitution Party candidates, within the past eight years, but I think that, this year, IL will be a swing state. I hope that all IL voters, who dislike Obama, will vote for the republican nominee.
I hope that Goode will get at least 0.23% of the vote. That would be 50% more than Chuck Baldwin’s 2008 percentage.
That's a risk. But congress has already become contentious with Obama. For example, his budget got 0 votes. Congress won't be that way with Romney.
I figure that a vote now for a third party will signal to the Republicans that they can't win without conservatives. And will make that third party more viable for the next election.
Me? No, I want Obama gone even if his replacement is crap. And while Goode is certainly more conservative than Romney I don't much care for him either.
