There goes the "paranoid" take-us- back-to-the-Wild-West National Rifle Association again, hysterically claiming that gun-control advocates are coming for their guns.
Wayne LaPierre, executive vice president of the NRA recently accused President Barack Obama of a secret agenda, to "lull gun owners into a false sense of security." Meanwhile, the president, says La Pierre, engages in "planning and plotting, behind closed doors, to launch a massive anti-gun onslaught when the time is right."
Is there a reason for this fear? Or, is the NRA, as one local reporter puts it, "intentionally alarmist"?
Five-four Supreme Court decisions can do that to the Second Amendment crowd. In the important 2008 District of Columbia v. Heller case, four members of the court actually said that the Second Amendment recognizes a right to keep and bear arms - but only as part of an organized state militia, such as the National Guard. Five justices said that people have an individual right to keep and bear arms, striking down the D.C. law that outlawed handgun ownership even in the home.
This draconian D.C. law was similar to one in Chicago, Obama's adopted hometown. Obama supported that law, which the Supreme Court, in McDonald v. Chicago, struck down as well. Case closed? Hardly.
If voters give Obama four more years, he will likely have two or more Supreme Court vacancies. One or two more left-wing justices, like Elena Kagan and Sonia Sotomayor, can flip a 5-4 Heller case the other way.
"Paranoid"?
Nelson Shields, the founder of the organization which later became Handgun Control Inc., said in 1976: "Our ultimate goal - total control of handguns in the United States - is going to take time. My estimate is from seven to ten years. The first problem is to slow down the increasing number of handguns being produced and sold in this country. The second problem is to get handguns registered. And the final problem is to make the possession of all handguns and all handgun ammunition - except for the military, policemen, licensed security guards, licensed sporting clubs and licensed gun collectors - totally illegal."
"Intentionally alarmist"?
In a 1993 editorial, a major newspaper urged Congress to outlaw almost all firearms:
"Only by slicing away at this nation's already vast and deadly arsenal of guns will we reduce the violence and the fear. You will not feel safe, your children will not be safe, until there are almost no guns on the streets and in homes. No guns, period, except for those held by law enforcement officials and a few others, including qualified hunters and collectors. Can Congress impose such a ban? Federal courts, including the U.S. Supreme Court, have consistently upheld a variety of firearms restrictions, even prohibitions, over the last 60 years."

Indeed, people need to understand that the only reason Trayvon riots have not occured is because of the Stand your Ground and women and elderlies with guns capable of blowing the head of those thugs off.
Once again, the good life result of those brave people doing good is getting unnoticed. THey need to be encouraged, all of each other need to do this and continue this.
The right to keep and bear arms is a God given right, the US Constitution only recognizes that fact. It will all coe down to “We the People” in the end.

Here's the reality. Most males talk big talk but when it comes down to a real gunfight with the women and kids in the line of fire or worse, when the BATFE kicks in your door at 0300 and storms inside with their new MP7's, America is going to roll over on it's collective belly and crawl. At least 90% of them for certain. How certain can we be? Remeber the post Katrina gun grabs? I would have thought all them rough and tough Cajuns and the like scattered around Naw-linns as they quaintly refer to New Orleans down yonder, would blaze away at the jack booted thugs. Right? We all remember the ultimate results. Much crawlage.
The decent news? If there are 100 million gun owners for example in the nation and 90% roll and crawl, that still leaves 10 million heavily armed folks. Many of them will be exmilitary and many of those will have combat experience and a goodly chunk of that crowd will have special operations experience with combat status. Ummmmm in a world where the guns are already being seized, just who is going to give anybody a spare? And if your own ammo supply is gone (even assuming it's the same brand and the correct caliber, who is going to part with enough ammo to fight a battle?

Uh huh. Where are you going to find these "patriots" who will leave their families in the middle of a basic state of revolution to go rushing off to a voluntary confrontation with a heavily armed and well trained force? How will they know which house to "reinforce" and how will they know the disposition of forces arrayed in advance of their arrival? How well trained are the patriots? Who trained them and when? How are they supplied? See these are pretty complex questions I've had to ask during the course of my time as an Infantry Captain. My secondary was logistics and I used to work for a General on his staff in that field. What you are saying is fantasy. Simplistic and unworkable. Try again.
Sorry, I misread that in my last post. It's still not going to happen this way. The JBT's will be quartered in compounds surrounded by mines and concertina, probably looking a lot like a Fire Base from the Vietnam era. They will rarely be found alone. Look read these books: EFAD and you'll get the right idea.
