Newt Gingrich, former House Speaker and a major Washington figure for decades, has been pushed to the fringes of presidential campaign discourse.
Although hes still formally a candidate for the GOPs 2012 nomination, he describes Mitt Romney as "far and away the most likely" GOP nominee a fact made all-but-certain by Rick Santorums dropping out this week. Mr. Santorum had been Romneys last remaining serious challenger.
With $4.5 million in debt, the Gingrich campaign organization has been operating on a shoestring as his principal financial angel, billionaire casino owner Sheldon Adelson, began moving toward the Romney campaign.
It appears as though hes at the end of his line, Adelson said recently. Because, I mean, mathematically, he cant get anywhere near the numbers, and its unlikely to be a brokered convention.

Ditto First State Newt votes BTTT.
Two more in this Sussex County household on 4/24.
Romney has already bought off everybody who’s for sale.
I don’t have money but I have a big mouth if I need to have one, and I’m ready to tea party!!! That was never a money project; it was common everyday people coming forward because they were sick of being jerked around by everybody in DC.
We did it before; we can do it again.
GO NEWT!!!
Thanks! That is much easier than going to each state’s site.
The way the media explains the rules is always highly simplistic. There is not just proportional and winner-take-all. There are all kinds of weird rules. Two states that violated the rule of being pure statewide winner-take-all before a certain date were FL and AZ. Newt can challenge at the convention that those delegates should be assigned proportionally, and there was some article a few weeks ago from some kind of Republican party guy I think that said they probably would listen to the request, thereby reducing Mitt’s delegates.
If he can keep it together until the convention, mabe there
is hope.
Add in defecting delegates and a challenge to the AZ and FL winner-take-all rules and he can lose some more.
Newt probably cant win the nomination outright, but Romney is a far length from doing it himself, which means this could easily become a floor fight at the convention if people keep voting for Newt and dont let Romney get to #1 in most of the upcoming states.
Sorry but your numbers are the ones that don't add up. That is you have missing delegates, over 300 of them. Super delegates or non pledged ones from various states.
And even if you are right Romney will get over 50% if the remaining delegates.
No way Gingrich gets enough votes to deny Romney the nomination. No Way.
Thank you, Madame Ruby. Can you pass me some winning lottery numbers for this week while you're at it, oh magnificent prognosticator? We've been hearing Mitt's inevitable for a LONG time. Yet he still insisted on spending millions of dollars attacking the other candidates. We have 9 days for the next round of voters to reconsider. If the Romneybots stay home assuming he's the winner, and the CONSERVATIVE activists show up, he could be in for a rude awakening.
Wow, Jedi you get this upset just because someone pointed out that your numbers were wrong?
Well here's a clue you are wrong on a number of levels.
First and foremost since Romney has over half of the decided delegates, it is mathematically impossible that if he gets 50% of the rest that he won't have the 1144.
You may not like that, but if your are going to spout numbers you need to make sure they add up. If not someone is going to catch the error, in this case me.
Secondly your thoughts about the conservative activists showing up while Romney people stay home is pure dreaming on your part.
Post back to me after the next few primaries and let's see whose predictions are more accurate, yours or mine.
As to those winning lottery numbers I think I will keep them to myself, I don't feel like sharing with you.
But I will be watching to see how accurate any other numbers you put up are.
Welcome aboard. May your stay be pleasant as well as informative.
He was no longer connected to that company, correct?
The meeting is set for 4 p.m. at Pappasitos Cantina, 723 Central Expressway.
Thanks for the info. A ping to Texas Freepers who might be interested in attending if they live near Richardson.
Thanks for the ping!
Well, he needs some money to continue.
He could get bit by a few more penguins and sue the Zoos. Or he could release the Global Warming book he put on hold until the primaries are over.
He could cut up his Tiffany’s card.
just suggestions and just teasing

Darn it! Wish I'd known about this sooner. That's right in my neck of the woods, but I can't go, due to work commitments.
That wasn’t me but did see someone asking on a post near one of mine this morning but can’t remember who.
I’m sorry I thought it was you.
Actually, I hadn’t gotten the info until I saw this thread. I would happily drive to Dallas for this if I had someone to go with me...........I live in Lakeway.
