Well, bless his heart. Dick Cheney joined daughter Liz Cheney yesterday at the GOP convention in Wyoming three weeks after his heart transplant
Cheney blasted Barack Obama as an unmitigated disaster for the country. FOX reported, via Weasel Zippers:
Dick Cheney, just weeks after undergoing heart transplant surgery, plunged back into the political theater Saturday praising presumptive nominee Mitt Romney while slamming President Obama as an unmitigated disaster.
The tough words came during an hour-and-15-minute talk at the Wyoming Republican Party state convention in Cheyenne on Saturday.
He sat in a plush chair throughout the long chat with daughter Liz Cheney and looked decidedly healthier than recent appearances where he has been gaunt and used a cane.
After Rick Santorum dropped out of the race this past week, Cheney in his address urged the party to pull together behind Romney. He said the former Massachusetts governor would do a whale of a job.
His opinion of the sitting president was less flattering.
He has been an unmitigated disaster to the country, Cheney said of Obama.
Cheneys heart transplant in Virginia on March 24 initially canceled his trip to the state party convention but he got last-minute medical clearance to go.
She was on my original list of “dream candidates” for the nomination way back.
Cheney/Rumsfeld, 2012.
The dream team.
THANK YOU, MR. RUMSFELD!
Cheney, God didn’t preserve your life to praise one of satan’s minions. You have shown you are not thankful - you can speak it but your actions are proof YOU ARE NOT!
Embrace your pro homo, pro baby killing candidate in this life - you will get your payback in the next. Evil cannot exist without evil supporting it. EVIL will never get my vote. And my reward is everlasting with ‘my own kind’ and it’s not with evil cowards. Sucker - the web of deception got you. It can only can suck in the weak.
Go Cheney....You’re a real Patriot....
There is an old saying: "Democrats fall in love. Republicans fall in line." Romney pretty much has the nomination in hand. As Cheney sees it, it's time for the party faithful to fall in line. I'm not endorsing Romney, just pointing out how the professionals think. Cheney is a concummate professional, and he knows what is expected of him. If he can help the party by campaigning, he will. If he can help the party by sitting on ths sidelines, he will. He's a soldier first.
What did you expect him to say about the prospective nominee?
What did you expect him to say about the prospective nominee?
I had hoped that Liz would run for President this time, but she has shown no inclination in that direction at all. I think she is happy just being a pundit.
Cheney’s got to worry about his family being audited by Obama. So I can’t blame him for taking this stance.
Likewise you aren’t going to see anyone who wants a future for themselves or their family in the Republican party not endorse Romney. They have their own self-preservation to worry about and also the hope that if they retain power within the party, they can “make it better” later. Conservative activists are in an entirely different position and need to be playing a different role. We’re the “bad cops” so people in the party like Cheney and his daughter can be the “good cops.”
Bottom line, even for the ABO crowd, it’s not time to unite behind a candidate when 20 states with over 1,000 delegates remain and Romney needs to win about half of those before he clinches the nomination.
“Obama will be gone in less then a year or in 4.5 years....”
.
There is a huge difference between the two time frames you mentioned — after another 4.5 years of Obama we might not have a country left or he might have been installed permanently like his buddy Chavez tries to be.
Can’t happen to America? Just wait until the Allah-Akhbar voting block gets big enough.
Obama is going to be even worse once he’s out of office....think Jimmy Carter on steroids. Sadly, getting him out of the White House won’t make him go away.
A man who knows....looking at a bowling ball with ears.
And I’m glad he said it - “an unmitigated disaster”.
It is the plain-spokenness that makes Cheney an adult. The rest of the people in politics are children or posers.
Exactly!
Amen to that as well. Don is another national treasure.
“That jaundiced look says more than 10,000 words about how the man felt about the Zero who was replacing his boss.”
.
Could he not have looked into Obama’s family tree before the 2008 elections took place? He must’ve had plenty of access to it considering his position.
All supporters of Mitt Romney should give your statement much consideration...well done.
“I had hoped that Liz would run for President this time”
She would make a great VP and is probably in everyone’s short list... She is a very effective bomb thrower and brings foreign policy experience to the ticket.
