In my view, this guy is 100% headed in the right direction vs. the sophomoric and anti-constitutional solutions being offered by the national campaigns and the national government.

The Declaration of Independence only restated the Laws of Moses.
It was Moses who first said our rights do not come from an earthly monarch.

Moreover, Jefferson is stating that every man has certain unalienable rights endowed upon them by their Creator. Meaning everyone has these unalienable rights. Undoubtedly, all men are created equal and possess the same natural rights under the Laws of Nature and Natures God.
That was the view Lincoln was upholding against the Confederate rejection of that truth.

In the main the Declaration of Independence said that a people were the judge of their own political destiny and that power derived from people consenting to be governed by rulers of their own choice.

At my Conservative Resource Center, the Declaration is offered with a brief Study Guide, to explain the function of the different parts (
Declaration Of Independence--With Study Guide), and to fight back against the deliberate misinterpretations by those on the Left, who always quote phrases from it, completely out of context.
Of course, the Left always misrepresents facts; never argues from a rational foundation. The reason need be no mystery. From the Jacobins, Marxists, etc., on, the Left has been--and is--at war with reality.

The Declaration of Independence stated to the world that the thirteen colonies were separating from Great Britain. In other words the colonies were seceding from Britain.
James Madison made a distinction between secession and revolution. What the colonies did was revolution, not secession.
