Maine has been the center of calls for civility and bipartisanship in politics in the past few months after Sen. Olympia Snowe resigned her seat, fed up with Senates lack of those two things. But one Maine Democratic legislator seems to have missed the memo, sending out a tweet in which he seemingly called for former Vice President Dick Cheneys execution.
Rep. Chuck Kruger, Democratic chairman of the Maine Legislatures Moderate Caucus, tweeted in August, Cheney deserves same final end as he gave Saddam. Hope there are cellcams #cheney. The Maine Wire first reported this, and preserved the screen shot of the now-deleted tweet.
In an email to The Daily Caller, Kruger clarified, I do not wish for the death of Dick Cheney or anyone. I did NOT call for his execution, that was an absolute smear from an organization dedicated to damaging Democrats. I did make a lousy attempt at humor, and I regret that.
His latest tweet suggests that he has taken that sentiment to heart: Twitter is no place for lousy attempts at humor, he wrote.
Kruger said he joined the mod caucus because we are very polarized and several of us want to find common ground on key issues.
But his comment is not being received as an indication of that.
This is a profoundly disturbing thing for an elected official who represents the good people of Maine to say about another former or current elected official, Jason Savage, executive director of Maine People Before Politics, told The Maine Wire.
Is that something that a reasonable person would do? asked Maine Republican Party Chairman Charlie Webster when reached by phone by TheDC. I mean, I have absolutely no use for Barney Frank or Obama, or list all the Democrats. But would I write something like that? I mean, would anyone with any basic common sense and goodness do that? Even as a joke I wouldnt write something down like that. I wouldnt think it. I wouldnt say it. I mean, how could anybody say that that was an appropriate thing to do
Its too bad that this is the kind of Democrat that the Maine Democratic Party has elected, he added.
But Webster said such comments were symptomatic of Maines political climate.
The Democratic Party in Maine is the most liberal in the country, he told TheDC when reached by phone, saying a number of its members were very far left, many of them members of the Occupy movement.
I dont know Mr. Kruger, except I know hes just another name that votes party line on every issue. Theres never been anybody whos independent thinking, he said.
When it was noted that Kruger chaired the Moderate Caucus, Webster, retorted, Thats an untrue statement. They can call themselves moderates, but there are only four or five in the entire legislature that would classify as that.
Just because I say Im a brain surgeon, doesnt make me a brain surgeon. He may say hes chairman of some moderate caucus, but if youre moderate, dont you have to vote that way? Webster added.
Cheney is living rent free in the heads of the clowns in Maine’s Moderate Circus.
“Moderate” Democrats, just like those “Moderate” Mohammadans.
Saddam Hussein was tried by his own people, then executed.
Barack Hussein Obama and Hillary Clinton provided support to the “arab spring” revolt by the Muslim Brotherhood in Iraq, then captured Gaddaffi as a prisoner, then tortured him, and murdered him without trial. Sec. of State Hillary Clinton then cheered “WE got him!”.
Socialist Rats can go screw, they aren’t genuinely outraged.
Liberalism is a mental disorder.
The truth is, Richard Cheney is an American patriot on the level of our founders.
This is the result of Academia putrifying New England and spreading their tentacles accross the Union.
I cannot say what I am thinking!
OoooKay, I call for his election as President of the United States of America and appointment as Emperor of the Universe!

The only way we’re going to be rid of these freaks and space aliens is to give them their own territory and let them destroy themselves,...
I’d chip in to pay for their one way trip.
“Freaks” is an appropriate description of them.

I live in Maine and I’ve never heard of this Chuck Kruger loon. I haven’t seen this story on the news, either. At least not yet.
The democrats in Maine have been in a snit in the aftermath of the November 2010 mid-term elections. Maine elected a conservative TEA Party guy, Paul LePage, as our republican governor. The GOP also won control of both the Maine House and the Maine Senate, this first time this has happened since the early 1960’s. So there’s hope.
I lived in California for a long time, and in my opinion the democrats there were further to the left than the democrats in Maine. Now that’s neither here nor there, because nationwide the rats have morphed into the socialist moonbat anti-business high-tax party over the years.
I think this fellow needs a visit from the Secret Service.
Rabid liberals sometimes forget that electronic media goes both ways sometimes. They get all to comfortable thinking they are in secure communication as part of the liberal cabal, and their sense of reason and forethought goes out the window.
We are going to end up fighting these people in the street one day.
Add Chuck Kruger’s name to the Red Enemies of the Republic List.
Good we know what he looks like now!
$9 a gallon gasoline means the end of the Democrats and their running dog lackeys.
Let him know that he has been reported to the FBI.
So if I wrote Kruger a note a few days ago that I and a group of friends were going to give him the same thing Saddam got, he would think it was a pretty good joke?
Of course today he wouldn’t approve of the joke.
