Casey Anthony’s lawyer: George Zimmerman’s a victim of prosecutor's ‘political prostitution’

Cheney Mason, the freewheeling criminal defense attorney who successfully defended tot mom Casey Anthony, is shaking his head over the second-degree murder charge against George Zimmerman in the shooting of Trayvon Martin.

The charge leveled by prosecutor Angela Corey is too severe and reeks of political calculus, Mason said.

“It’s political prostitution,” Mason said. “Now I don’t have all the facts – no one does – but you look at what we know of the case and it looks like the prosecutor bowed to other pressures.

“The fact is there is lots of racial bigotry in this case,” Mason said. “And a lot of it is coming from the side of Trayvon Martin’s family. I can understand why his family is upset. They lost a child. But they weren’t at the crime scene. None of us was.”

Mason said Corey is too zealous of a prosecutor.

"This is a person who wanted to put a 12-year-old boy as an adult for murder. It’s just too much,” Mason said.

Mason said there will be a hearing under Florida’s Stand Your Ground law – which expands the right to use deadly force -- and the charges could be dropped then by a judge. But, Mason said, “people are using Stand Your Ground to obfuscate the facts of this case. This comes down to the fundamentals of homicide. What’s the evidence? The burden of proof is on the prosecution. It’s not on George Zimmerman. And you can’t blame Stand Your Ground for this tragedy.”

Wouldn’t that be interesting if he took up the case. Get out your race riot gear.

It's a show trial to keep the mob at bay. Can't say I blame her.

The fact that she charged Zimmerman with 2nd degree murder tells me she's on his side.

This ain't a 2nd degree murder case. An acquittal, if it goes that far, is a slam-dunk.

An acquittal is the better outcome for Zimmerman than a no-bill, which enables the New Black KKK to hound him forever.

Cheney Mason has been known to communicate in the common vernacular.

I saw Judge Alex on CNN as I worked out this morning. He said that in FL a 2nd degree murder charge is normally connected to intent. That the murder had to actively seek out the victim WITH intent to kill.

Did Zimmerman pursue with intent to kill or intent to stop a perceived crime?

I looked here

Definition of Second Degree Murder

The crime of Second Degree Murder occurs when a person commits either:

Murder with a Depraved Mind or
Accomplice Felony Murder

Murder with a Depraved Mind

Murder with a Depraved Mind occurs when a person is killed, without any premeditated design, by an act imminently dangerous to another and evincing a depraved mind showing no regard for human life.

The primary distinction between Premeditated First Degree Murder and Second Degree Murder with a Depraved Mind is that First Degree Murder requires a specific and premeditated intent to kill.

Wow! Someone not afraid to say the truth. He will get death threats now for it.

Last sentence of the article: “And you can’t blame Stand Your Ground for this tragedy.”

Last night a poster stated that under the Stand Your Ground Law, a judge could dismiss the case on a motion by defense counsel. No trial, that’s it.

After watching the “Special” prosecutor’s press conference on Youtube, I’m inclined to agree with this attorney in his statement of “Prosecutorial Prostitution”!! Zimmerman was charged purely for political reasons.

I don’t know what the rules of ethics are in Flordia but in Indiana an attorney can be disbarred for such a statement. Not saying I disagree with the barrister but he’d better be careful.

I think it would be far more interesting if a high profile BLACK attorney took up the case.

Interesting? Or did I mean entertaining?

I was thinking the other day that the media is using the Zimmerman case in much the same way they used the Casey Anthony trial.

Just a big circus with a great side-show carnival. Trouble is...There were no wide-spread riots by whites when the Anthony verdict was handed down. No urban malls were looted. No Starbucks were burned down.

But now?? Now Holder’s people are ready to burn down the ghetto’s. No matter what.

No, he’s correct. None is a singular pronoun, basically a contraction of “not one,” and thus takes the verb in the singular.

However, there are times when the plural is also correct, such as the case where there is an implication that “none” refers to a group of people.

In this case, though, the singular was fine.

THIS is a man Zimmerman needs to defend him. I know he has a good attorney now but Mason is saying what GZ lawyer needs to say to the media. You can’t play nice with the government when they’re trying to railroad a man for political reasons.
That biotch special prosecutor NEEDED to be called out not praised for being “professional” like Zimmerman’s attorney did yesterday.

I just have to ask, was that press conf by the SP the most pathetic thing anyone has ever seen?? She starts off with this flowery rhetoric like she’s announcing her run for office or something. She asks people to continue to pray for Trayvon’s family and HER, but not George.

She says she talked to his ‘sweet’ parents...blah blah blah.

She made me sick to watch that.

the minute she spoke about ‘those sweet parents’ i knew this wasn’t about justice. it’s about railroading.

Please, you’re so off the mark it’s not even funny. That woman was in her glory yesterday and smiling all over herself and talking about praying with Trayvon’s family last week.
She’s not on Zimmerman’s side.

The fact that she charged Zimmerman with 2nd degree murder tells me she's on his side.

A lot of people weren't thrilled with the way the judge in the Hutaree case handled it but when it was over she explained that it was for the protection of the accused. 2 years in jail sucks but it sure beats 20 or 30.

Yes it is. Purely done for political reasons.
