Eight New York City police officers have been shot in the past four months. Illegal guns from out of state are turning our city into a shooting gallery, Police Commissioner Ray Kelly told the New York Daily News this week. His departments controversial stop-and-frisk polices uncovered 800 such guns last year. There is a reason why we continue to be proactive on the street, Mr. Kelly said. But critics of his stop-and-frisk practices say that tens of thousands of Constitutionally wrong searches conducted annually in mostly minority neighborhoods do not a single right make.
Does the spree of recent cop-shootings trump NYPD critics stop-and-frisk concerns?
* Yes. Cops lives should come first. The NYPD should stop and frisk more people and get more guns off the street.
* No. Citizens rights come first. This spate of shootings happened despite NYPDs use of stop-and-friskthe approach failed.

Ripe for freeping. Wanting to disarm the public does not override the 4th Amendment of the Constitution.
Let the citizens carry and the statistics would change dramatically.
There is a difference between a “frisk” and a “search”. A frisk is a pat down. A search is an officer going in your pockets. The author does not differentiate.

The end justifies the means?
No thanks. I'll keep my Constitutional rights.
You're close. Frisk Mayor Bloomberg's bodyguards, and take their guns away. Bloomberg thinks guns, not criminals, are the problem. So Bloomberg should have no problem with his bodyguards going unarmed.

It’s been 50 ‘no’ votes to 4 ‘yes’ votes since the start of the thread.
If you don’t manufacture any guns, all guns are from out of state. Legal or otherwise...
Does Ithaca or anyone else still manufacture in NY?
It is to demoralize the anti-freedom forces, to make them realize their small minority and inferior position, to smell victory and to listen to their plaintiff lamentations.
They just keep trying to gin up support for the anti-gun movement, despite all evidence to the contrary. Bloomberg is now trying to wield national support to walk back the “Stand Your Ground” state statutes, as if that is some sort of big problem creating massive death to anyone but criminals.
He can keep his NY nanny BS packed tightly up his own rectum. We don’t find your argument compelling at all, Mayor Bloomberg. Go blow your smoke up somebody else’s ass.
Disband the police, give everybody a gun and a lot of these problems will be resolved.
Smoke my ass!
I can’t afford a Kimber but I am impressed that they are making top notch sidearms on the devils back door step.
New York was once such a key manufacturing state- a huge part of the gun industry at one time.
I’ve bought parts from Numrich over the years but didn’t realize Kimber was there. Thanks FRiend!
Yep. Kimber was originally founded in Oregon, but actually relocated to Yonkers.
Wow- that’s an against the regulatory-current change of location.
Must really burn Blossombird, or whatever his name is.
Legalize possession and armed self-defense, and the problem will go away.
Plus, of course, the city will then be in consonance with the Constitution of the United States - not that the city government gives a rat’s ***.
Similarly, I'm a big Armalite fan, and they see fit to set up shop in Illinois...
