Excommunicate.

Not that her bishop will have the courage to do so, but that’s what’s needed.

Being nominally anything is like being nothing.

Of course she is not Roman Catholic if that is what she meant. I am not either, but I understand that to be Roman Catholic requires a certain view on birth control.

If you don’t subscribe to an organizations ideals, you are not of that organization. How silly. Just because you parents subscribed to something does not mean you are automatically a part no matter what you believe.

She’s right, it’s not controversial. The Church’s position on contraception is perfectly straightforward and clear. It recognizes and promotes the genuine good of men, women, and children and of society as a whole.

It called the Roman Catholic buffet line. You pick and choose what you want:

oh yummy...I'll have some forgiveness..., but skip the Confessionals

wow... that communion looks good, but all pass on abstinence

And what's this salvation about?? Ok, I will have some of THAT.... but pass on the abortion and birth control

Yummy, it all looks so good

Catholic? At best this fool's a "progressive Anglican",at worst,she's a Unitarian/Universalist (AKA;an atheist).

And let me guess...to her, abortion isn't controversial either.

"I'm Catholic and contraception is not controversial"

Melinda, honey, pick one half of that sentence (probably the second half). You can't have both.

Just remember, her beliefs are a feature...not a bug.

(Hell microscam software has got away with for over 30 years, why shouldn’t the wife of the founder be able to use the same excuse.)

>>Excommunicate<<

No need. She has excommunicated herself. By going against Church Doctrine, she has excluded herself. Whether silently in hear heart or publicly on a megaphone, the sin is complete.

The fact she doesn’t recognize the sin, reject the sin, atone for it and ask for forgiveness compounds the sin.

I do not personally call her a sinner (although we all are). Church Doctrine is 100% clear, though.

But like most women, my decision about birth control had nothing to do with promiscuity. I had a plan for my future. I wanted to go to college, and I studied hard. I am proud that I was one of the very few female computer science graduates in my class. I also wanted to have a career.

She does not say marriage in this, does she? Not, when I got married I wanted two children and that's all. But, I wanted to go to college and have a career and also have sex.

That may not be promiscuity, exactly. But it's a kissing cousin.

> No need. She has excommunicated herself.

You know, I hear that a lot. I’ve heard it about Ted Kennedy, Nancy Pelosi, Joe Biden, John Kerry, and a great many more high-profile “Catholics” that not only reject the Church’s teaching on major moral issues, but actively promote the opposing view and even publicly excoriate the Church for its positions.

Yet, these people are still allowed to attend Mass, they are still allowed to receive communion, they are still allowed to call themselves “Catholic” and obtain the votes of Catholics.

The Church is doing NOTHING to stop them.

The Church should be actively excommunicating them by refusing to administer any rites or sacraments to them.

They should not even be allowed to enter the Church building until they REPENT!

The Bible is clear about how you treat those who call themselves “brothers” but walk disorderly.

You are not to eat with them nor keep company with them. They must be shunned.
