Gingrich called the state’s GOP primary "very competitive." A survey of Tar Heel voters conducted late last month by Public Policy Polling found Romney and Santorum tied at 30 percent, Gingrich at 19 percent and Paul at 13 percent.

With Santorum suspending his campaign Newt got a good shot at taking NC.

;-)

Newt in the White House is exactly what we need to undo the chaotic mess left by Obama.

Poser RINO backstabber at work:
"Me. Me. Me. Me. Me. Me. Me. Me.
This thingy I found is the perfect size.
Mount it on the roof
of my wife’s second Cadillac.
Cover up the stain from Seamus.
"

“Willard, what the hell is that child doing on the roof?”

now he drops out but how about when he had his daughter sick back around FL.

He had not one county for him in NH then SC then FL and yet his daughter was sick and many said what on earth is he doing and now this.

Wonder if Santorum will go for Romney and if he does then it will show what many have said why he stayed in.

Disgusting all of this

Newt would have been way out in front by now and the attacks by FOX, Drudge and the establishment would not have worked but Santorum stayed in till now Newt has not a chance .

Seems many on here were right as to why Santorum stayed in but I’ll wait till he gives his support and if he goes for RINO then that is it

Exactly what he should do. Newt is not a quitter.

His POV needs to continue to get out there.

I can’t say I was exactly in Santorum’s camp since I was planning of voting for whichever one (Newt or Rick) had the better chance of winning more votes in Pennsylvania, but Newt’s got my vote now. My wife, on the other hand, was squarely in the Santorum camp and she also is going to vote Newt.

So...what happens with Santorum’s delegates?

If he throws them to Romney, then it really is all over. If they go to Newt, then conservatives actually have a fighting chance to win this thing within the GOP, rather than having to go outside the party.

Newt has to keep his message out there. He is running against all odds since the lame media wants Romney, the liberal. It is so difficult to watch the republican party put this man up as the leader. This decision will really change the conservative message/make it moderate version, I guess. I seldom watch TV news. Tonight, they are acting like Rick never mattered and never has Newt. They are beyond disgusting and continue to show how they drive the people in what to think. We need a protest against the media then we may have a chance to get control back of reform. ( Keep fighting on, Mr. Speaker for patriots who love our country)

“”There is no reason to concede anything,” Gingrich said at a news conference. “Every vote we can get in North Carolina is a vote for a more conservative platform — every vote we can get in Delaware, or we can get in Arkansas or we can get in Texas, that is a very useful thing to be doing. If there is a major mistake or a major flaw, the race is wide open again.”

AMEN. Go NEWT. CONSERVATIVES - PRAY without ceasing that the cultist Romney is stopped by divine intervention before 1144.

Any evaluation from the Gingrich campaign on their chances in North Carolina following Santorum’s withdrawal?

Based on demographics alone, I would think that North Carolina would be one of the better chances for a Gingrich pickup. Obviously he needs at least five states with a plurality of votes to get his name into nomination.

If y’all think Newt still has a chance, go buy up his shares on Intrade. Right now, there are over 2000 Newt “shares” available at the low low price of 5 cents each. If he manages to land the nomination, you stand to make quite a haul. Only a very few people are looking to buy, too.

By the way, for those who don’t know, a huge pile of unsold shares, and no one buying, means InTrade investors believe Newt is done.

Yes, it’s just InTrade, but it is people who are willing to put their money behind their beliefs, and right now Mr. “Golden Tablets” is touted as having a 97% chance of landing the nomination.

Also FWIW, InTrade currently shows the Democratic party as having a 61% chance of winning the coming election, to a Republican chance of about 38%.

I just don’t see any silver lining in the election at this point, at least not at the top of the ticket. I don’t want Romney to win, but that looks pretty unavoidable, and I really don’t think he has the chops to push the Zer0 out. This may have to be another year where we focus on the House/Senate and other down-ticket races, and hope that the Won doesn’t take his coming victory as a mandate to consolidate his “rule”.

Meant to add: this is the result of all the “tastes great-less filling” crap that the Newt and Santorum (and Cain and Bachmann etc etc) backers went through. As a result of that Balkanization, neither side had the momentum to do any real damage to Romney, and now we’re stuck with him. It’s pretty much a given that Romney doesn’t have what it’s going to take to win the General, and all the Dems had to do was sit back and watch the Republicans eat each other.
