To hell with the GOP-e. Barring a miracle, they got their big government, unconstitutional mandate loving, socialist abortionist Obama-lite RINO on the ballot, they can now get him elected.
We are the resistance!!
Shove him down our throats today, we shove him up your donkeys in November!!
I can see November from my house!!
Hello???? Of the three, Romney is the only one who would, judging by his record, INCREASE abortions, and being a statist and believer in Government, would discourage any reversal of Roe vs Wade, said reversal of which would be the first step of a free and self-determining moral people to begin to stem the tide of abortion in America, since RvW makes it illegal for them to try and stop them in their own home states.
Apples and oranges, FRiend.
I'm voting ABOOR.
Nothing more conservative or pro-life than a conservative Catholic.
Obama provides a target on the field in front of us we can unify to fight. Romney provides chaos in our ranks and constant discord that is difficult to overcome. It's pretty basic strategy really.
I would prefer that Obama lose to a conservative. But if he instead finds victory over a progressive liberal disguised as a conservative, the GOP is forced to become our ally once more and face a common opponent.
Calm, reasoned sense. THANK YOU.
I think a powerful help toward mitigating the negative is to vote third party such that Obama (or God Forbid Romney) gets in by the slimmest plurality possible. If he's re-elected on a weak plurality where as much as 66 percent of votes cast were AGAINST him, it would seriously compromise and weaken his political viability, and strengthen his opposition.
I'm voting ABOOR and hoping Obama gets in on a 34% plurality (where 66% on record voted to OPPOSE him) because it's one way to "mitigate the negatives."
I supported Santorum. He's out. As I see things, there are now only five choices left for conservatives.
1. Listen to the calls of the Republican leadership and some conservatives like Herman Cain to “get behind Romney.”
2. Give up and go home, and either not vote or pull a reluctant lever with no enthusiasm and little if any campaigning for whatever candidate is left in the primary and general election.
3. Try to go third-party, most likely with the Constitution Party, either to send a message to the Republican leadership that they can't take conservatives for granted or as a serious effort to turn the GOP into the Whigs of 2012, but in both cases knowing there's no realistic chance of defeating Obama this year.
4. Get behind Ron Paul as a protest vote, since even he knows he has no chance at winning.
5. Get behind Newt Gingrich as the only conservative candidate left in the Republican primary who has any chance of winning.
#1 (Romney) and #4 (Paul) are outright verboten on Free Republic, and for good reason. #2 and #3 are giving up on the 2012 race, believing that either Romney or Obama are going to win this year no matter what we do.
I'm not a defeatist. Therefore, I think #5 (working for Gingrich) makes the most sense.
Does anyone else have a better idea that actually has a chance of beating Romney and then Obama? I don't.
Let's try to forget the bad blood. For those who can't, I understand why some people sincerely cannot in good conscience work for Gingrich. Others may believe it's too late and it's not worth the effort. If that's your view, please at least choose option #2, stand down, and let those of us who still want to defeat Romney try to do so.
That job is going to be hard enough as it is.
I hate to point out the obvious, but neither did Newt.
If Ronald Reagan wasn’t able to get RvW overturned, then there is no way in hell that a Santorum or Newt could possibly do the same in a country that still has 40% approval for an out and out communist.
A reelected Barack Obama WILL MAKE YOU PAY TAXES FOR MORE FREE STASH ABORTIONS.
What logic makes Obama shoveling fetuses into the furnace better than Romney leaving the issue alone like Reagan did?
I wasn’t completely sold on Palin, but she is far and away better than most of the GOP “candidates”. I’ll get on a Sarah Palin write-in bandwagon.
Currently Newt and Paul are options. Milt does not have it wrapped up yet.
Also, those that say a third party can’t win are the reason a third party can’t win.
Tell me again how DADT passed that Conservative Republican House??????
Remind me how Boehner fought of Bachman over funding for the implementation of ObamaCare? Oh yes he decide there was an arcane rule that could not be broken.B$.
Where is the President and Secretary of State getting all this money they are handing out? Oh I know the Conservatives raised the debt limit again and again and received nothing for it.
Tell be again how Boehner lowered the defect by cutting over a hundred billion from the budget, that shrunk to about three billion.
Tell me again how many subpoenas have been issued by Issa? How many contempt charges have been filed?
Tell me about how they welcomed the Tea Party Freshmen? Well I think they have corrupted all but a couple. That was because Boehner stated they must compromise the Tea Party before they arrived, as did Trent Lott. I could go on ut it is a waste of 1's and 0's.
2. Romney has no real beliefs. Wrong. He has a long, documented record in Massachusetts government to prove what he believes, and all of it is anti-conservative and pro-government. I'll grab a quote from you -- to say that Romney "has no real beliefs" is "not being truthful."
3. ...[A]llowing your hatred for Romney to cloud your judgement .... Hate, other than my hatred of government repression and politicians forcing me to surrender the fruits of MY labor in order to support sloth, lust, promiscuity, abortion, and envy, is entirely out of the equation. I don't oppose Romney because I "hate" him, I oppose Romney BECAUSE I LOVE GOD AND LOVE AMERICA.
As long as you operate on the premise that objection to Romney is motivated by hatred of him, you are way, way out in left field and the fast one are flying right over your head.
3. I have no love for [Romney], but he is not as evil as Obama.
a) It is clearly and heavily documented that Romney supported and promoted tax-payer funded abortions priced lower than most minor cosmetic procedures, to be on-demand available to any female in Massachusetts, and furthermore, Romney is ON RECORD as approving letting minors appeal to judges in order to over-ride their parents' objections to their having an abortion.
b) It is clearly and heavily documented that Romney promoted, supported, and celebrated Gay Youth Pride in its "outreach" efforts that included middle schools -- encouraging 12-year-old kids to embrace open homosexuality in their peers and everyone else, and even to declare it in themselves. That surely is leading innocent children to evil and depravity.
There is no "not as evil" going on here. Wake up. Evil begets evil, whether it's coming from a Democrat or a Republican. You are willing to make a deal with the devil when, with your eyes wide open, you vote for "lesser evil" Romney. Hello? Making a deal with the devil is always a LOSING PROPOSITION.
The repeal of DADT passed before the new Repubs were in. Only 5 Repubs voted to repeal it, one was Ron Paul; he’s on record as pro-”gay” rights.
“I’m a Republican. If Romney wins I’m good.”
So what IS a Republican? You vote like sports fans root for a baseball team. You don’t care as long as the red team wins I guess.
I don’t prefer Obama, I prefer NEITHER, which means I prefer Conservatives. What that means to Republicans, who as you point out, are a far different thing than conservatives, is that Romney is going to lose.
The difference here is I understand, strategically, that Romeny losing is a minimization of the negative impact that this election represents. Obama is going to be bad for the country, but not for Republicans or Conservatives, should there be a country left when he’s done.
Romney would have been bad for the country too, but he would have destroyed both the party and Conservatives.
That’s OK by you, because being Republican and being Conservative are different things.
I’d like to hear your views on those differences. I see room for them, since I’m torn between Obama’s deliberate undermining of our national interests abroad and Romney’s unknowable position on protecting our national interests abroad.
The problem with knowing Romney’s position is that what comes from his mouth isn’t always the truth.
With Romney, it’s “Just the tip, just for a second, just to see how it feels.”
This mess is the fault of the R/DNC. The elites can pound sand.
So, are you first cousin to Chicken Little? When Clinton won with 43 percent plurality, he got his ASS KICKED in the mid-terms. And in case you haven't been paying attention to Romney's record in Massachusetts, his judical appointments were extremely activist liberal every three out of four picks. Obama picks a liberal, at least empowered conservatives can fight it tooth and nail; Romney picks a Souter, Republican opposition will be made much weaker.
Conservatives would at least become more powerful under Obama; under Romney, they would be castrated and YOU will have done your part in voting away the last hope of fighting liberalism by voting to surrender the Republican party to liberalism. Wake up, FRiend.
Because he isn't telling the truth. He i as much a Zero as Zero.
Sadly, your vote FOR Romney will betray that indulgence. Better to vote ABOOR so that whichever bastard wins, the vote count will conform that he enters office opposed by the majority, which will make him politically vulnerable and which will empower and embolden his opposition.
"Impress upon children the truth that the exercise of the elective franchise is a social duty of as solemn a nature as man can be called to perform; that a man may not innocently trifle with his vote; that every elector is a trustee as well for others as himself and that every measure he supports has an important bearing on the interests of others as well as on his own. "-- Daniel Webster
Always vote for principle, though you may vote alone, and you may cherish the sweetest reflection that your vote is never lost.
-- John Quincy Adams
"Let each citizen remember at the moment he is offering his vote that he is not making a present or a compliment to please an individual--or at least that he ought not so to do; but that he is executing one of the most solemn trusts in human society for which he is accountable to God and his country."
-- Samuel Adams
These quotes shamelessly stolen for future use.
You mean like when Bill Clinton waltzed in "opposed by the majority" due to a 3rd party candidate....and he went on to appoint, for example, Janet Reno?
Have you honestly thought through what you say? This "win by losing" thing actually makes sense to you?
Why in the hell is there not a decent conservative candidate like Reagan anywhere even on the horizon? All we have is a guy who lost in his home state to a screaming liberal or a narcissistic scholar who bounces checks and rotates through wives or a comical black man who ran a circus campaign or an out of touch Mormon rich guy from a liberal state.
You've got the Tea Party "revolutionaries" all signing on to the Mormon RINO, and what? Where is the majority outpouring at the primary voting booth? Why is it the "establishment's" fault that they've picked the most popular loser that's kept his hat in the ring this long?
Well I think if you go back a few months you will find that I and many others warned of exactly this. The primary is a farce period. Our candidate was selected for us, they let us play around in the pool for a while, then close the pool. This was as predictable as the Sun rising in the morning.
We needed a breakout candidate ala Reagan, but the only one that came close to that description sat out, for reasons unknown.
No politician will save us from this disaster so consider your options.
Im with Alexander Hamilton on this - If we cant nominate a conservative, then let the liberal win
You sound conflicted.
Id like to hear your views on those differences.
Obama hates America, and YT, and pals with terrorists.
Here are some Obama Romney differences
Here are a couple columns by Ann Coulter
SEND LIZZIE BORDEN TO WASHINGTON
WHAT'S THEIR PROBLEM WITH ROMNEY?
Of course, we both know that no amount of truth is going to change your mind. But now you can stop pretending to be ignorant, when you are just disingenuous.
