Give Cosby credit for not being playing the race card, but he's still not thinking this through completely. If an investigation proves Zimmerman's side of the story, "the gun" will end up being what might have saved his life.
We have a God-given right to patrol our own neighborhoods, which can be dangerous work. And if in the act of doing so we are attacked, "the gun" can come in awfully handy.
Let's also not forget that Zimmerman claims he wasn't following Trayvon Martin when the teenager attacked him.
Washington Times:
"The gun.
Those two simple words flowed easily from the mouth of social commentator Bill Cosby during an exclusive interview Friday regarding the Trayvon Martin case, arguably the most high-profile, citizen-on-citizen U.S. slaying facing the Obama administration.
Trayvon was killed Feb. 26 in Sanford, Fla., by neighborhood watchman George Zimmerman, who told police that a confrontation with the unarmed 17-year-old led him to shoot in self-defense.
Mr. Cosby, a Navy veteran, said the gun empowered Mr. Zimmerman, whose actions have stirred a firestorm of debate, protests and remarks from President Obama....

I get a big kick out of all the gun-grabbers in Hollywood. Do you suppose they'd want their bodyguards and security to be disarmed? I've protected several celebrities and I was always carrying a firearm even though I'm a big guy.

Hey, just disarm everyone and negate the right of self defense.

Gee! Chicago,,,2 dead and a dozen and a half wounded. Just in one night. If that keeps going, how long will it take before Chicago is depopulated?

I do appreciate bill not playing the race card. But it’s easy not to once a whole slew of others including the media already did.
Disarming a neighborhood watch person equals disarming a law abiding citizen. Neighbor watch guy or just a guy seeing something unusual in his neighborhood. Bill fails on this one, folks.

Mr Cosby should be careful what he wishes for.Celebrities are far from immune from violent attacks.John Lennon, among others, know that. That is unless he's proposing that *ordinary* folks like *us* be disarmed and “beautiful people” like himself be able to exercise their 2nd Amendment rights

I dont think disarming Zimmerman would have been the solution.
However, I think if Zimmerman had been better educated in security protocols might have made the difference.

It just points out that he's speaking from the same point of moral and experiential authority as other great military leaders with Naval background ..... like for instance Jimmy "Let's Not Piss Off the Ayatollah" Carter.

I just saw a video clip of Bloomberg saying “Congress should enact a law to make illegal guns illegal!” That was his exact quote.
How in Seven Hells can this man be in charge of anything much less a city?
To paraphrase Gilda’s best quote “ Never Mind!”, it’s NEW YORK!

I KNEW THIS WAS ALL GOING TO BE USED AS ANTIGUN PLATFORM.
This is the age of bridges, pipelines and neighborhood watches to nowhere... “hey, I am a watcher, but don’t count on me watching or being a witness to anything, I have no weapons to defend myself against thugs, and, in fact, I might as well be paid by them to spy on you people!!!”
I mean, the security and safety freaks of society are so stupid. Who in their right mind would pull hero security like this without a weapon. PUUUULEASSSSSEE ... sign me up for this insanity, I want to pull such neighborhood TSA watch over Cosby’s house, gropping him around and let the world know if he still have a prostate or not... because apparently he is dumbed down wuss.
