NBC News' decision to air an edited call from George Zimmerman to police in the moments before he shot Trayvon Martin was "a mistake and not a deliberate act to misrepresent the phone call," according the president of network's news division. The edit in question, which aired on the network's flagship "Today" morning show last week, made it appear that Zimmerman told police that Martin was black without being prompted, when, in fact, the full tape reveals that the neighborhood watch captain only did so when responding to a question posed by a dispatcher. Under growing public pressure to explain the incident, NBC News President Steve Capus provided Reuters with the fullest explanation to date of how the edited call made it on air and what the network is doing to prevent such a consequential error from happening again.

I, of course, disagree with that perception, as I suspect would all fair-minded people. But for someone focused enough on their cause, I can see the possibility of it not being concious deception.

Certainly only a small percentage of the the Zimmermans in this world are Jewish so I hope you are basing that on something other than his last name, not that it is a big deal one way or the other, but there have been enough inaccuracies printed about him already.

I think the lack of outraged solildarity is due to the Hispanic community wanting amnesty - BO is feverishly working on it now. The fix IS in. All it is going to take is a little time but it will be done. Count on it.

A mistake in editing would produce a result, because of varying levels and or pitch, that made it obvious that a cut was done. In all likely hood a cut was made and ameliorating automations inserted to give the listener the sense of one statement.
