How important is the resurrection of Jesus Christ?
The Observer ^ | 3/7/2012 | Rev. Roger N. Eimers

Easter is a celebration of the bodily resurrection of Jesus Christ. How important is the resurrection of Jesus Christ? The Apostle Paul wrote about the importance of the resurrection of Christ in the entire 15th chapter of 1 Corinthians. He began by saying, "Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures: And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve: After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once: of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep. After that, he was seen of James; then of all the apostles. And last of all he was seen of me also, as of one born out of due time." (1 Corinthians 15:1-8)

The Gospel is good news because it states the only way that a person can be saved from the punishment for sin and someday be allowed to go to heaven. We are all sinners as measured by God's holy standard, which is absolute perfection. The punishment for sins is eternal death in the Lake of Fire. (Revelation 20.) No one deserves heaven. No one can earn heaven by good works. We are all born condemned. God loved the world of sinners so much that He sent His eternal Son from heaven to die for sinners. (John 3:16)

The Resurrection of Christ is Good News.

Before, folks really didn't know what happened to the dead. Even those who were raised from the dead, like the Widows Son with Elijah, died again. So there was no certainty.

With Christ's Resurrection and bodily return to heaven, we know positively that there is life after death. And, moreover than that, since Christ is Still Alive (at the Right Hand of God the Father) that there is Eternal Life.

The only question will be the quality of Eternal Life. With Faith in Christ, it is Eternal Life, Love and Joy. Without Christ, it really is not life, not love, not joy and worse.

Better is life in Christ, follow Him.

How important is the resurrection of Jesus Christ?

As N.T. Wright observed, if you got rid of the Christmas story, you'd lose a couple chapters in some of the Gospels. If you get rid of the resurrection, you get rid of Christianity.

As Paul says,
12 Now if Christ is preached, that He has been raised from the dead, how do some among you say that there is no resurrection of the dead? 13 But if there is no resurrection of the dead, not even Christ has been raised; 14 and if Christ has not been raised, then our preaching is vain, your faith also is vain. 15 Moreover we are even found to be false witnesses of God, because we testified against God that He raised Christ, whom He did not raise, if in fact the dead are not raised. 16 For if the dead are not raised, not even Christ has been raised; 17 and if Christ has not been raised, your faith is worthless; you are still in your sins. 18 Then those also who have fallen asleep in Christ have perished. 19 If we have hoped in Christ in this life only, we are of all men most to be pitied.
I Corinthians 15
The resurrection is the start of the New Creation right in the middle of the Old Creation.

To deny THE RESURRECTION is to deny JESUS and the FATHER. One cannot be a CHRISTIAN and deny CHRIST. HE IS RISEN... and HE will win... I have read THE BOOK and I KNOW! HAPPY EASTER MY BROTHERS AND SISTERS!

Orthodox believers greet each other on Easter with these words:

“Christ is risen.”

“He is risen indeed.”

And those words can be spoken after every event; even when the worst things happen, those facts overcome them all.

Life is hard enough in a fallen world with Jesus. I don’t know how the people that don’t know Him, are able to function if you sit down and try to analyze the insanity all around you in the world.

“The resurrection is the start of the New Creation right in the middle of the Old Creation.”

Our preacher was stressing that this morning.

2 Cor.: “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.”

Isaiah 43:19 See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the desert and streams in the wasteland.

And also reminding us that Christ’s resurrection isn’t JUST so “now we get to go to Heaven”, it is so that we can be changed here on Earth, and help in the continuing transformation of God’s creation. And that this change is an “unstoppable force” - both in us, and in the world.

It is important enough that CHRISTians delineate their calender by His birth.

With Christ's Resurrection and bodily return to heaven, we know positively that there is life after death. And, moreover than that, since Christ is Still Alive (at the Right Hand of God the Father) that there is Eternal Life.

Indeed. we know that we are immortal. Death does not ultimately claim us.

It also means that we will truely get to someday meet our maker and thank Him for the joy of this life.

Though I'm not Catholic, I believe this to be one of the most beautiful prayers I know.

Prayer of Saint Francis of Assisi

Lord, make me an instrument of your peace.
Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
where there is injury,pardon;
where there is doubt, faith;
where there is despair, hope;
where there is darkness, light;
and where there is sadness, joy.

O Divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek
to be consoled as to console;
to be understood as to understand;
to be loved as to love.
For it is in giving that we receive;
it is in pardoning that we are pardoned;
and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life. Amen
