(Reuters) - An internal NBC News probe has determined a "seasoned" producer was to blame for a misleading clip of a 911 call that the network broadcast during its coverage of the Trayvon Martin shooting, according to two sources at the network.
NBC News brass interviewed more than half a dozen staffers during its investigation of the misleadingly edited 911 call placed by George Zimmerman just before he shot the unarmed Florida teenager, said the sources, one of whom is an executive at the network.
The clip aired on the network's flagship "Today" morning show last week.
The edit made it appear that Zimmerman immediately told police that Martin was black, when, in fact, the full tape reveals that the neighborhood watch captain only did so when responding to a question posed by a dispatcher.
There was no clear indication on Thursday of what, if any, disciplinary actions would be taken against the producer or other staff involved in the incident.

I hate the smell of scapegoat in the morning. Yeah, one seasoned, unnamed producer and his staff are responsible for all of this. How about Media Matters? Did they have a hand in this? No names given to protect the individuals from the upcoming lawsuit. If they were truly sorry the would do a full report on the station and issue a news release to other news networks the told ALL the facts.

It's quite possible that no intern even touches an editing machine at NBC. It's inconceivable that a network production shop wouldn't be entirely unionized -- and interns wouldn't be anywhere near part of that.
Actually, he might have. If AppleTV (as planned) allows you to watch nearly anything from the nets/cable/internet on demand a la music:Spotify, then it's up to conservatives to produce content.
Reading between the lines, this was the go-to guy at NBCNews for just this sort of Journolist malice, so they can't fire him until they are assured of someone to replace him...
It was an error that the editor didn’t even realize his blatant predisposition to be biased. It was an error that his superiors didn’t recognize their bias. Finally, it was an error that he got caught and now they have to slap his wrist to placate other dubious news organizations that just can’t help piling on a competitor, even though they’d have done the same damned thing.

You are right. It’s awful convenient that a team of inexperienced staffers have the power to manipulate evidence for the media without any oversight from supervisors.
The next time the use this excuse they should be asked if the staffers supervisor is going to be fired for incompetence. The is only 2 ways this kind of fraud could have happened. Either the management wanted it to happen or the staffer did it without their knowledge and the management failed in their jobs to supervise their staff. Either way a manager’s head should roll.
They may do some discipline, but because the staffer is ‘seasoned’ the NBC brass won’t fire him/her. Maybe they will recommend an anger management course or something.
Meanwhile, the MSM have helped create a fine mess with death threats and retaliation attacks on whites nationwide. Can riots caused by ‘justified anger’ be far behind?

Because it's not a controversial question. It's sort of helpful in describing someone. The dispatcher also asked what he was wearing (GZ answered hoodie), how old he was (GZ answered late teens).
