Bill dooms only Miss. abortion clinic
Politico ^ | 04/05/2012 | MJ LEE

Posted on 04/05/2012 2:38:06 PM PDT by Responsibility2nd

The owner of Mississippi’s only abortion clinic on Thursday accused Republicans of “hiding behind words like ‘safety’ and ‘women’s health’” in pushing a bill that is expected to become law soon that she says could shut down the facility and leave thousands of women without the option.

Diane Derzis, who owns the Jackson Women’s Health Organization in Jackson, Miss., told POLITICO in an interview that she believs the passage of a bill in the state Senate on Wednesday that would require all physicians performing in abortion clinics to have admitting privileges at a local hospital was directly targeted at closing down her clinic.

Mississippi’s H.B. 1390 is the latest of a number of recent measures in state legislatures across the country aimed at rolling back access to abortion, including a controversial measure in Virginia that Gov. Bob McDonnell signed into law last month which mandates women to undergo an ultrasound prior to getting an abortion.

Only one abortion clinic in Mississippi? And it is on borrowed time?

Wonderful.

I think one of the Dakotas now has none; the old killer that was doing them retired, and nobody would replace him. I believe this is what was driving the push a few years back to require medical students to kill a baby as part of their “education”; there simply weren’t enough ghouls interested in doing this (at least enough that would or could get through medical school), so they figured if they got blood on the students’ hands early they’d come around. We’ve been importing Asians to do this for years, because even Westerners who support the legal right are horrified at the prospect of killing the babies themselves. It takes a cold bastard to do this, along the lines of an SS death camp guard - a completely detached monster with no conscience.

On the surface, it seems like a no-brainer.

They can’t shut the baby killing store down soon enough!

Yes, I just got a letter from a pro-life organization saying that there are now several states, maybe 5 or 6, that are now down to one abortion clinic, and they are hoping to concentrate on closing them down.

The joke is that this is supposed to be a “woman’s health” clinic, but they have no doctors or nurses capable of doing anything if an abortion goes wrong. No way that this would have been allowed to happen if the politicians weren’t in bed with the abortionists.

Makes perfect sense to me.

What happens is when complications arise, they shuttle them to the hospital and wash their hands of the entire matter.

Imagine that, an abortion doctor having to care for their patient in the hospital?

I can tell you that from long years of association with ambulatory surgery centers (ASCs) that no surgeon would ever be granted privileges to operate at an ASC if he/she didn’t have privileges at a nearby hospital to care for their patient if, or when, a complication occurred.

BINGO!

Wasn't it Pennsylvania that recently discovered an Abortion House of Horrors due to lack of oversight?

Why yes, it was.

'House of horrors' alleged at abortion clinic

Doctor charged with killing patient, 7 babies; no staff had medical training

An article posted a few weeks ago said that the “doctor” who bought Tiller the Killer’s abortion equipment has been unable to get a license to open a clinic.

My heart bleeds for her.

Why does this doctor not have admitting privileges at a local hospital? And doesn’t it make sense that a doctor performing a surgical procedure in her office would have that?

Irony, that she would accuse Republicans of using women’s safety and health as justification for this law when it’s the liberals who did that very same thing to legalize abortions.

Sounds like she may run a “back alley” type clinic, huh?

Maybe she tried to open it in a white neighborhood; here in NJ they seem restricted to black neighborhoods (that was the whole idea anyway).

If she’s a good doctor I don’t know why she could not set up an arrangement with a hospital to have admitting privileges.

I suspect she is not a good doctor and that is why no hospital will give her admitting privileges.

Good doctors rarely become abortionists. They are generally an aging group (one in our area is in his 80’s). The only way to get the younger doctors involved is by coercion, such as through Obamacare.
