Erick Erickson was out of patience, tired of reading about Mitt Romney as a paragon of conservative virtue, tired of hearing the callers to his Atlanta radio show praise Romneys record.
The founder of the red-meat blog RedState.com sat down last fall in his Macon home, beside a towering painting of Abraham Lincoln, and banged out an epic rant. Romney was unprincipled, he wrote, and yet certain to win the Republican presidential nominationan outcome that would cause the destruction of the conservative movement as we know it.
Time has not softened Ericksons stance. The onetime Presbyterian church deacon turned CNN commentator now tells Newsweek: There are a whole lot of conservatives who think Romney is not really a whole lot better than Obama.
Erickson and other keepers of the conservative flame have been trying for more than a year to muscle Mitt aside in favor of someoneanyone!who didnt reek of moderation. Now, despite the empty chatter about a brokered convention, there is no Plan B left, no savior waiting in the wings. It is a moment of truth for the dead-enders, who have to decide whether to relent and rally around Romney or hang back, even if it means helping Barack Obama win a second term.

Seems to me that the GOP-E thinks Romney or anyone they nominate will lose to Obama. Hence the more charismatic candidates refusing to run this year, in favor of being good soldiers and supporting Romney because it’s Romney’s turn. To go down to the same defeat as those other stiff old white guys, Dole & McCain.
Big gamble that we’ll still have a country left after 4 more of Boris Obamanov. But the GOP-E really seems to see it as business as usual. Even if some, like Ryan, see the danger to the country, they don’t see mileage in bucking the GOP-E and their money men.
I am not struggling... I will never support that evil bastard.

They may need to change the name of the republican party-everytime you see the people backing Mitt; they are either patting each other or giggling ever so wildly, it makes you wonder. I thought Sean Hannity was going to ask Paul Ryan out for dinner -if those could have become any more friendlier,...to see men act this way-where I come from... is just plain odd.
Me, too. And this article brings up a great point I had never considered before. Assume Romney is nominated and wins the general election. In four more years, are we prepared to defend a Romney administration?
Conservatives have already lost. Some just haven’t realized this. Romney represent the Liberal/establishment branch of of GOP and they have won. Whether Obama or Romney win, Conservatives have lost. We should focus on Senate and House
I'm going to hold my nose and vote for the (R), whoever that turns out to be. Obama cannot be permitted to appoint more Supreme Court Justices.
Struggle to embrace? The thought never entered my mind to embrace a LIBERAL. If I did, it wouldn’t be a coward who hid behind the Republican tag. Deceitful mitt.

Mitt's forced people to buy health insurance they didn't want or need, and strongly supported abortion rights.
We know as soon as he wraps up the primary he will begin his march due left, to where we all know he is actually situated.
The party is dead if he's the best Republicans could hope to run.
Their fixed it..
The party is dead if he's the best Republicans could hope to run.
We should have seen the light and acted on it when they gave us Dole.
I smile.
“There are a whole lot of conservatives who think Romney is not really a whole lot better than Obama.
Not to mention soros.
“We have an avowed enemy of the United States and a Communist in our White House and the best opponant is Romney...... the EGOP can foist upon us to keep the K-Street Game of us vs them Musical Chairs going is Romney.”
