Just as her friends were doing, my daughter Melissa was busily preparing for adulthood. At school, she was getting ready for college by taking the right courses and had signed up for the ACT college entrance test.
Outside of class, Melissa was learning the socialization skills it takes to get along with people by spending time with friends, classmates, and teammates. At her job, she was learning the relational skills needed for a future career of work. At home, Mell was preparing for future family life by experiencing the way a Christian family would interact.
Getting ready for life as an adult takes work, and Melissa was making good progress.
But none of that preparation was what she would need. In 2002, when she died in a car accident at age 17, the only preparation that mattered was her readiness for heaven.
When the truest test of preparedness came so suddenly on that beautiful June eveningwhen eternitys door opened for Melissashe was prepared. She had put her faith in Jesus and trusted His sacrifice on the cross for her sins (John 3:16; Rom. 5:8-9).
When she faced the ultimate test of being prepared, Melissa was ready. Are you?

On Monday I had my first really bad lumbar incident since the day after Thanksgiving in 2008. I couldn't even stand up straight until Wednesdasy evening. This put a crimp in my work.
Then our own Libertina laid out what I needed to do to get my website in position for her to do her magic. This kept me on the phone, lining up my domain name, setting up time to edit my lecture into a small sample and building a commercial for it. Next week I have to set up a Paypal account, an website account and check in with a lawyer to straighten out tax, licensing and legal permissions. At least I can walk now.
Maybe next week I can lay down the preamble, which is what Chips Moman did in Memphis for Stax Records before he and his stable of songwriters began planting the seeds of Hot Country in 1968.
Hey there!! Can I join the fun tonight?? :)

Oh Prof....what did you do to your back in 2008? So sorry you have been in pain!
LOL...looks like Libertina has you hoping & my goodness she must be working hard as well.
Can’t wait to see the site!
Not a lot of gardening but a lot of mowing, lol. I put some sunflowers in the ground yesterday, but mostly I’m just tending sprouts which is a job in itself, considering almost 20 varieties of peppers so far. I’ve got trays with more than 150 pots sprouting - lots of moving around and watering. Some are doing very well - others ... not so much, lol. My tators started sprouting this week and the pear tree is in bloom. All in all it was a pretty good week.
Star, where the h-e-double-hockey-sticks have you been?! You’ve been missed!
