House Budget Committee Chairman Paul Ryan (R-Wisc.) is expected to endorse Republican frontrunner Mitt Romney before Wisconsin's GOP primary next Tuesday, according to media reports.
Ryan would be the latest in a string of high-profile endorsements for Romney this week, as party leaders have increasingly coalesced around the former Massachusetts governor's campaign. The Wisconsin lawmaker would join popular freshman Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) and former president George H. W. Bush in signaling support for Romney this week.

NOBODY could possibly appease these people. They are a radical, pessimistic fringe who will never find a positive attitude about much of anything, that does exactly not meet their definition of a perfect World. Reagan himself, defined them in much the same way I just did.
Perry was my choice. He got out way too soon - IMO.
So when they vote with Boehner they are sticking with their principles, but when Ryan does, he is a sellout?
I don’t understand why people are so shocked that conservative leaders are picking Romney over Santorum. I’m a Gingrich guy, but he’s done(was a Cain guy previously and I was initially hopeful that a few other conservatives would give it a shot).
I’m still voting for Gingrich unless he bails, but when I’m just looking at Santorum and Romney, I actually like the candidate Romney is pretending to be substantially more than the candidate Santorum actually is. There’s nothing particularly appealing about Rick Santorum to me. I’ll vote for him if he’s the candidate, but I’m not a fan. Congressional conservatives probably don’t like either of the choices, but think Romney is more likely to win.
A Romney type split the vote here and won a 6 way primary. Rick Snyder. Snyder didn't move right when he was elected, except on some union issues. He's the same guy he always was. That's what will happen with Romney too.
The question is whether or not 4/8 years of Romney is better than the devil we have. One good thing with Romney is that he doesn't have Eric Holder, Cass Sunstein, Valerie Jarrett, and those czars. One bad thing is that congressmen are nothing but mindless lemmings when their party's president is in power.
I know the feeling. He's a slimier version of Rick Snyder, and I did not vote for Snyder. I also don't want Obama picking two more judges for SCOTUS.
I have followed individual bills. It depends on what the bill is.
And that line of thought is the biggest problem of all we have in this country. Too many people need leaders to inspire them. Too many people want to be lead. Too many people look for someone with charisma. Screw that crap. That's how we got stuck with Obama. People need to step up and lead themselves. Until that happens, we're screwed.
“So Romney is a conservative because he has a wife and a large family?”
You missed the whole point. Conservatives need to take the house and the senate. Conservatives need to take back their local politics. They need to put their own on school boards and in city council. Conservatives need to support a president of all the people even if his conservative credentials need honing. Most of government needs to get out of the social aspects of American life and back into doing what they’re supposed to do.
“Knocking up your wife?” Good grief. That’s real conservative. You sound like a winner. “He would say anything to win?” Really? Are any of them out there saying anything to lose?
“With Romney, if we have the right congress in there (and I believe we will) we will hold him to his campaign promises and he will delver, because if nothing else, he is a politician and he wants to keep his job.”
You are exactly right.
In the last 150 years, 3rd parties have been, are, and always will be no more than protest votes unless you get a New York State style system.
The only way to make an actual difference is to take over the GOP from local levels on upward and to take advantage of primaries and open seats. That's it. That doesn't mean I won't vote protest occasionally. I did for governor last time, but 3rd parties are only good for protest votes.
Paul Ryan isn’t a RINO, but he’s extremely overrated and not to be confused with a Mike Pence.
Sounds like a great strategist...why, oh why did Newt wait to "unleash" Haley til now?
I don't disagree... but in a year such as this, in which the GOP nominee (Romney) is going to be steamrolled, many conservative voters will be looking in that direction.
He is basically saying that we need time to build our organization and that if we wait until convention that there will not be time to do this. It is coming down to who has the best chance to beat Obama, and Romney has the best (albeit it VERY limited) chance to do so
Ryan sees many faults in Romney, including his weak fiscal stances in MA. Ryan was also likely told that he would be left to hang by the GOP-E if he did not endorse Romney. Now he will be safe and only Duffy and Ribble will be left to hang.
Ryan should be judged more on the things he proposes and tries to accomplish.
I'm puzzled at this endorsement since last year he said he would not be endorsing since he'd been asked to fundraise for whomever the nominee became. It's highly likely it'll be Romney but it's not a "done deal."
That's a good way to put it. The candidate I've seen on TV, in the debates and in his primary victory speeches--that guy is pretty good: pro-private sector; pro-Keystone pipeline; pro-military; pro-SC justices like Roberts, Alito, Scalia, and Thomas; anti-Obamacare; anti-Roe v. Wade; anti-homosexual "marriage"; anti-illegal immigration; etc.
But the thing is, I don't know if that's the REAL Romney. I don't even know if there IS a "real Romney." Or is he just "Omni-Romney," "Sketch" Romney, the Man of a Thousand Faces? This has been my heistancy with him all along, that, plus the lack of a strong alternative candidate. But it is almost certain now that he will be the nominee, and I don't see how he could be anywhere near as bad as Obama. And he won't have an 85% Democrat legislature to deal with, either.
Unless the conservative primary candidate Romney switches course on Obamacare, abortion, or homo marriage between now and November, I will vote for him over Obamao, vote for conservatives in Congress, and then hope for the best.
