John Kerry: They're swiftboating Obama

Sen. John Kerry (D-Mass.) has lent his name to a fundraising solicitation that raises the specter of millionaires and billionaires funding an outside effort against President Obama.

"When I was the Democratic nominee for president in one of the closest and toughest elections in history, a group of billionaires did something unprecedented," Kerry wrote. "They wrote million-dollar checks to fund lies about my service on what were called "Swift Boats" in Vietnam -- and in so doing, they turned the boats my crewmates and I served on into a new political shorthand for the most vicious smears imaginable: 'swiftboating.'"

In 2004, an anti-Kerry 527 group formed to raise questions about his war record and air ads against the senator, then running as the Democratic nominee for president. Its' spokesman, Jerome Corsi, would go on to become one of the leading proponents of the 'birther' conspiracy that falsely suggests Obama was born in Kenya or elsewhere.

Kerry points to a $3 million dollar donation to a pro-Romney super PAC by Houston construction magnate Bob Perry as the next round in an outside effort against Obama.

"One man. Three million dollars. And that's just the start," Kerry writes.

"I know all too clearly that these guys will do or say anything to win. They'll stop at nothing. But forewarned is forearmed. Their multi-million dollar smear tactics were new in 2004; in 2012 we know their playbook, and shame on us if we don't tear it into shreds. Join me and we will stop the 'swiftboating' of President Obama," Kerry emails.

Kerry’s big problem is that he and his peeps never put forward a solid rebuttal against Corsi. All they’ve done is whine.

It is absolutely unbelievable how bad the Democratic candidates for President and Vice President have been for the last 30 years. Can you imagine Al Gore? Kerry/Edwards? But as bad as they were they didn’t pose the threat to this country that Obama does. If I had to choose—I would even pick John Edwards over Obama.

I can't help but wonder what people like Kerry think about the lives they have led by acting out false pretenses and getting fake rewards, when they are alone with their thoughts. Could he really be proud of himself for basically doing nothing and just conning the public into supporting his lifestyle?

Is it possible for people like this to actually feel pride when they gaze at their library shelves displaying awards they didn't earn?

I haven't been on the site for ages, Biglook - guess I'm inactive as well. It's not the length of Kerry's tour that gives me problems - I had a short tour as well. Of course, I spent more time in hospital under treatment than he served in-country.

I have to admit, over forty years later, I can't let it go. I long ago came to terms with the War and my service in it, which was faithful and honorable, although not heroic. What has me going now is the screw-job being done on today's troops, despite all the lip-service being given to "support the Troops" by the leftists. Too many successive deployments, unconscionably perilous ROE's, inadequate support for returning troops and their families - the list is endless. Now the Marxist bastard in the WH means to balance the budget by gutting the military and ripping the heart out of their benefits.

It stinks to high Heaven! This great Nation is being undone by these bastards and our children will not live in Freedom!

Kerry also had a plan for winning the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq but he never has revealed it. He just said that he “has a plan”.

John Kerry says a lot of things. Not all of it is true (like the Congressional Record testimony celebrating his “Irish” heritage).
