Latino organizations dismiss George Zimmerman, question his ethnicity
Daily Caller ^ | 03/29/2012 | Caroline May

The death of Trayvon Martin has sent racial shock-waves through the country, and while the focus has largely been on anger from the black community, the fact remains that the alleged shooter, currently in hiding from vigilante threats, is a self-described Hispanic man.

But if George Zimmerman was hoping to find support in the Latino community, he should look elsewhere.

“The Latino community joins the African-American community and other communities in condemning George Zimmerman as what he is – a murderer and a racist,” Roberto Lovato, co-founder of the online Latino advocacy organization Presente.org, told The Daily Caller.

The group is acting on Trayvon’s behalf. Presente.org has joined with Color of Change to petition for the arrest of Martin’s murderer.

“Todos somos Trayvon! (We are all Trayvon!),” Presente.org wrote, urging supporters to sign the petition. The group also has a petition to condemn Geraldo Rivera for blaming Martin’s hoodie for his death. According to Lovato, the petition currently has 18,000 signatures.

La Raza has rallied for Martin with the civil rights community as well.

The organization’s urged so much in a March 22 post at the Huffington Post.

“NCLR joins allies in the civil rights community in calling for a real investigation for this grievous failure of justice,” president and CEO Janet Murguía wrote.

My point is simply that buncombe and illiteracy are still buncombe and illiteracy even if they're official policy.

Those government "political ethnographers" aren't the be-all and end-all they wish they were. I subvert their mountebancal (word?) authoritye with relish. </Cartman>

So what’s the Hispanic equivalent of “Uncle Tom?”

"Tio Taco" and "Tia Juana", I think.

I think I know what part of it is-sometimes, like now in a bad economy, people get into really hard times. Along comes a friend and tells you how to get free stuff, particularly if you are a member of a minority. I’ve been there myself when I was a young single mother in college, and believe me, it is hard not to go to that food stamp office, rather than to ask mom and dad for some help, after they have been so patient with you, and still have kids at home.

But if you go get the goodies, you are probably going to live on the plantation, too, because it is easier that way. I cowboyed up and did it the hard way-hamburger helper, working more hours-finally moving back home and all, but many do not-that is how they go liberal-if the government becomes your mami, you will vote their way.

Those tens of millions are no different from my family-Hispanic/mestizo for the most part-already mixed with the native population-Spain hasn’t had a mass migration to the Americas in a couple hundred years. I was talking about only people fresh off the boat or plane from Spain-does the plane from Spain fly mainly in the rain? Sorry, I couldn’t resist...

The Democrats created the artificial category of “Hispanics” in the 1970s as a way to create another class of victims, which they could imbue with special rights and privileges, including affirmative action and minority business set asides. The result is another minority group that votes Democrat. It doesn’t matter that, according to the Census Bureau, 51 percent of Hispanics self-identify themselves as white. The Census Bureau has even created the phony category of “non-Hispanic whites,” which are now 66 percent of the population and will be 50 percent in 2039. The reality is that “whites” will still be more than 70 percent of the population in 2039.

So, if Zimmerman is to be called a white hispanic due to his mixed blood... Is the US president to be called “a white black” due to his mixed blood?

I am so confused.

"Latino" organizations operate according to what benefits the advance of socialism, the Democrat Party, and the group leadership. Not in that order.

When Clarence Thomas was being lynched in congressional hearings, what did we hear from the NAACP?

I agree. Materialism of the “bread and circuses” type is going to be the death of this country, in that too many are willing to trade their freedom and integrity for a spurious and temporary “security”. It’s as if people don’t even understand the idea of freedom anymore, real freedom of self-determination, not the libertinism the left espouses. What’s really bad is that they don’t understand you can’t really buy security with your freedom, because those to whom they would sell it have absolutely no interest in maintaining either for the populace.

Zimmerman is a member of the Florida Democrat Party.

All that don't matter, as the government controlled media labeled Zimmerman a "White Hispanic".

The only thing that matters is he's got some white in him.

Obama has some white in him and so do an estimated 80% of the blacks in this country. Hispanics can be of any race or combination thereof.

Per La Raza, from Spain yes

I honestly didn't expect that.

So La Raza must believe in a worldwide Spanish "super-race" resulting from the Hispanification of the world. That would make them Falangists, wouldn't it?

As a practical matter, whether or not you are Hispanic is a question of your name, not your ethnicity. If your name is Juan Carlos, you are Hispanic, even if you don’t speak a word of Spanish. If your name is George Zimmerman, you are not Hispanic, even if you learned fluent Spanish from your Peruvian mother.

Half White Half Black= Black
Half White, Half Latino= White
Its whatever the media and politics of the moment wants.
If Zimmerman was shot by a White Irish Cop—he would be a Latino.

True enough. We’re even gattin ‘some’ African Americans making the determination this should be judged on the merits and not race. That’s somewhat encouraging.
