The lead homicide investigator in the shooting of unarmed teenager Trayvon Martin recommended that neighborhood watch captain George Zimmerman be charged with manslaughter the night of the shooting, multiple sources told ABC News.
But Sanford, Fla., Investigator Chris Serino was instructed to not press charges against Zimmerman because the state attorney's office headed by Norman Wolfinger determined there wasn't enough evidence to lead to a conviction, the sources told ABC News.
Police brought Zimmerman into the station for questioning for a few hours on the night of the shooting, said Zimmerman's attorney, despite his request for medical attention first. Ultimately they had to accept Zimmerman's claim of self defense. He was never charged with a crime.
Serino filed an affidavit on Feb. 26, the night that Martin was shot and killed by Zimmerman, that stated he was unconvinced Zimmerman's version of events.
Zimmerman, 28, claimed he shot Martin, 17, in self defense.

oh, now you did it. here comes the circus.
He might have wanted it, but he didn’t get it, and he still didn’t get it.
End of story.
Hope you never have to experience a self defense case, where you are the victim..
You, are the circus.
This is exactly why “stand your ground” laws are passed..so police can’t automatically arrest people who defend themselves with lethal force without risking a heavy penalty if their ‘suspicions’ turn out to be wrong.

Black teenagers shoot black teenagers all the time.
Why does Zimmerman have to pay for the sins of racist whites, most of whom were Democrats?
Better than being the dead guy.
Same reason why DUI manslaughter arrests are not made immediately. You need pc and a case that will stick.
That's true. If Zimmerman hadn't been able to get a shot off, he'd probably be dead.
And Captain Zimmmeman knew that fact when he was apprehending Travon and if charged can use that as a defense.

Good call.
What is that saying, tried by 12 vs carried by six?
I'll take a shot ;)
He didn’t try to apprehend Trayvon and didn’t have time to think. Dumb comment..
Unconvinced does not equal probable cause unless you want to give police officers more power than I, at least, think they should have. I also think, after reading about this for a week, that the evidence does not warrant an arrest.
I agree.
Who was the second black teenager in this case? I guess I don’t understand your argument.
Captain Zimmerman observed Trayvon looking at houses in a suspicious manner and was able to notify 911 of his observations.
Furthermore, Zimmerman must have been taking some kind of action to protect his home and neighborhood as he got out of his Patrol Truck to stop Trayvon from his suspicious activity.
