Mitt Romney got the next best thing Friday to an endorsement from U.S. Sen. Pat Toomey, he got validation.
"I think Mitt Romney is a conservative and if he's president, he'll govern as a conservative," Toomey, R-Pa., told reporters after a speech to the Pennsylvania Leadership Conference, the annual gathering of conservatives in the state.
Toomey made his mark in Washington hunting down and replacing Republican moderates in Congress with Republican conservatives as president of Club for Growth, a powerful anti-tax group.
A tea party kingmaker, U.S. Sen. Jim DeMint, R-S.C., also affirmed Romney's conservatism after meeting with him Thursday on Capitol Hill.

Yeah, Mutt is a pro sodomy, pro abortion, pro socialism, pro unconstitutional bailout conservative.
You forgot pro gun control.
First DeMint, now Toomey---the clear hope is that TEA Party folks will now "get their asses in line" now that these two obvious party-first hacks have spoken out about what a great Conservative Romney is.
Won't work! If he's the nominee, then I'm writing in Sarah Palin's name, and the GOP-E can go to hell!
Yet again, hope triumphs over experience.
The word "think" says it all about Mr. Etch-A-Sketch.
Think again, Patty.

I used to always pass this quote around to people, when they were being tempted to do the expedient thing, and go with the crowd politically... the lesser of two evil crowds, I'd guess you call them. It was one of the things that made me stand tall for Newt through all the slings and arrows, especially of family and friends.
"I was there when we had the numbers, and not the principles, and was there when we had the principles and not the numbers."
~ Jim DeMint, on the Mark Levin program, 09.14.10, on why he opposed Mike Castle, DE Rino.
Kiss my ass, DeMint.
DeMint put on his GOP-e kneepads for Mitch McConnell a long time ago.
I absolutely agree -- I think it's starting to dawn on them that an unenthused base will be disastrous for the House and Senate races. So instead of giving us a candidate we can be enthused about, they tell us we should be . . .
I was planning on writing in Newt, though of course Sarah would be splendid!
Speaking of Sarah, has anyone else noticed how everyone has picked up her use of "common sense"? Obviously, she didn't invent the phrase, but I think she gave it new life -- I'm hearing it recently from both Obama (who wouldn't know common sense if it bit him in the @$$) and McConnell. Never heard it so much in years past!
I had Toomey’s number quite awhile ago.
They always tip their hand.
Yep, DeMint just proved himself to be a first-class hypocrite.
Toomey and DeMint have been Etch A Sketch candidates from the very beginning.

I KNOW yer thinker is broken..
You can almost envision the recent meetings in which the GOP poo-bahs sit around a conference table in DC and strategize about how to convince Conservative TEA Party folks to shut up and rally behind Romney. It seems that the latest strategy is to trot out prominent TEA Party "leaders" like DeMint to tell everyone how great Romney is and to disbelieve our lying eyes.
Makes you wonder if they've been trying to lean on Sarah Palin behind the scenes and convince her to climb aboard the Romney bandwagon?
And yeah, they've all been stealing her lines, even "all of the above" Obama.
To call Pat Toomey and Jim DeMint mitch's bitches is just wrong.
Toomey is my senator and is a real conservative and show me a senator that has done more for the TEA party conservative wing of the pubbie party than Jim D.
If these guys are not conservative enough for you, you should consider the South Pole as a new home.
As for DeMint, his newfound love for Romney pretty much undermines anything and everything he has ever said or done for the Conservative movement.
Now it has deteriorated into a constant bitching session by people who would rather send our nation down the tubes than back someone who doesn't pass their personal litmus test.
Not to much here of a constructive nature, more and more threads like this one that are just a bitch session.
Like I said in an earlier post, I am going to vote for Romney when the North Carolina primary rolls around.
Santorum can't beat Obama and a Romney presidency with a Republican Congress sure beats what we have now.
