The Sanford Neighborhood Watch volunteer who shot and killed Trayvon Martin, an unarmed black teenager, did not instigate the encounter but has received death threats and moved out of his home, his father told the Orlando Sentinel on Thursday.
George Zimmerman, 28, has not been arrested, something that has put him and the Sanford Police Department at the center of a firestorm. Critics say Trayvon, who was visiting family from his home in Miami, was a victim of racial profiling.
Zimmerman's father, 64-year-old Robert Zimmerman of Lake Mary, delivered a one-page letter to the Sentinel on Thursday, saying that the depiction of his son in the media has been cruel and misleading.
George Zimmerman is Hispanic and grew up in a multiracial family, the statement says.
"He would be the last to discriminate for any reason whatsoever ...," the letter says. "The media portrayal of George as a racist could not be further from the truth."
The letter does not provide details about what happened Feb. 26 on a walkway in the gated community where George Zimmerman lives and where Trayvon was visiting. But it does challenge one basic assumption of the family's lawyers: that Zimmerman's intent when he got out of his sport utility vehicle was to confront Trayvon after calling police to report a suspicious person.

I haven’t listened to the tape, and 25 years on the flight line means my ears can’t hear anything that isn’t extremely clear anyways.
However, I have met some racists - but none of them would use the word ‘coon’ in talking to the authorities. Folks who talk like that are pretty good at concealing it, unless they are drunk - which is the only time I’ve heard someone say something like that.
Also, I find it highly improbable that the cops would have let the shooter walk free if there was ANY evidence the shooting wasn’t justified.
If you’ll listen to the tape, it’s pretty clear he said “punks”, not “coons”.
It was astounding to see some of the “He is definitely guilty” posts coming from a couple of alleged freepers.
I see Hussein finally had to take “ownership” of the alleged victim... must have been hearing a lot from his racist buddies.
I listened to the tape played last night over and over on CNN and to be honest I couldn’t tell what Zimmerman was saying. Even after the news guy told me what I should be hearing I couldn’t hear the word Coon. Neither could my wife.
So I suspect you may be hearing what they told you you should be hearing. just like those UFO shows keep trying to say that what they have pictures of are real UFOs and the ghost shows keep saying they have videos that prove ghosts were around.
I don’t believe what I’m told to believe unless I see or hear it for myself. The media is too good at brainwashing us and we make it too easy to do. Remember the Rodney King videos that they kept playing showing the cops being evil. Problem is, they only played a small part of the tape that worked in their favor. They ignored a whole section that showed that the cops were justified.
Careful casting your lot with the MSM, they will fool you and make a fool of you each and every time.

This story would be gone yesterday if the deceased victim had been white. In the media, it would have been cut and dry that a 6’-3” white guy was beating on a hispanic man who shot in self-defense and saved his own threatened life by killing the white man beating on him.
That a black man was killed by a man without a hispanic surname, it is a story in the media, lead by the race baiters.
The sad thing is, a man died, a man shot him or had to shoot him, and somebody was in the right and somebody was in the wrong.
Just, you switch a skin color here or a surname there, and the media jumps ship as to who they declare in the right or in the wrong.
Race relations have never been this bad and things are just going to get worse as we become more PC.

I missed nothing. Zimmerman staged the attack by baiting Martin with filthy racial slurs. Zimmerman knew the kid was unarmed, contrary to what he told the 911 dispatcher about "something in his hand, that was in his waistband", and he was confident he could end the attack at his lesuire by killing Martin after enough witnesses had heard his feigned cries for help. Zimmerman is a murderous, racist scumbag.
I listened to the full 4 minutes of Zimmerman’s 911 call and it definitely sounded like coons and not at all like punks. It may not be possible to prove he said that but it does sound that way.
I’m just thinking this through, and obviously I don’t know all the “facts”, even though they seem to be quite disputable. Did this altercation happen in on a street in a fancy neighborhood? Or was it on someone’s property?
Let’s say the kid did turn around and confront Zimmerman for following him, and even if he did start taking swings at Zimmerman, is the next logical step is to pull a gun? Unless you are protecting your own property, I don’t think so. Now if the kid was packing, or had a knife, there may have been a reason.
Either way, he used excessive force, to say the least. Guns are not play toys. Did Zimmerman know he was going to kill the boy?

Dead on, and if the MSN somehow mistakenly would have report this under your scenario, they sure wouldn't have been parading around a 5th grade picture of the White guy.
Lets get all the facts before we jump to conclusions.
If the kid was pounding his head against the sidewalk, then yes, Zimmerman had a right to be afraid for his life. And the police report noted Zimmerman was bleeding from the back of his head.
The same could be said for any issue or cause that the left takes up to further their agenda -
no matter how good or right it might be at its core,

All of 26 is, he said ,he said, all third party, has no meaning. Ie, third party interpretation, fact is the kid, said he was being stalked while he was talking to his girl friend, if zimmerman had taken the operators advice to stay in his vehicle none of this would have happened. If zimmerman did call the kid a “coon” when he gets to the big house his days are numbered.
