After it was reported Monday that Malia Obama was going to Mexico for spring break with 25 Secret Service agents, people began to notice that such reports were being scrubbed from the Internet.
Politico's Dylan Byers reported Tuesday this was done at the request of the White House:
The AFP page for the story now links to a story titled "Senegal music star Youssou Ndour hits campaign trail," as does the Yahoo page. The Huffington Post page now links directly back to the Huffington Post homepage. The Daily Mail, Telegraph, and Australian stories now lead to 404 error pages, reading "page not found."
In an update, Byers explained who was responsible for the scrubbing:
Kristina Schake, Communications Director to the First Lady, emails to confirm this was a White House effort:
From the beginning of the administration, the White House has asked news outlets not to report on or photograph the Obama children when they are not with their parents and there is no vital news interest. We have reminded outlets of this request in order to protect the privacy and security of these girls.
Must be nice to command such an obedient media.
Follow up info - The EQ is 100 miles from Oaxaca and though felt in Oaxaca, probably did minimal damage.
There has to be a way to find out.
Heard that on my car radio. I was wondering if Moochelle had landed to join her daughter on vacation.
I doubt it too, especially with all the SS agents and armored vehicles the articles mention.
Not me, the mods are always fun when they've been hitting the Jameson.
Never fear....they finally had to acknowledge she’s there.

Now that it has been announced that there was a 7.4 earthquake in Mexico City, today, will the reports resurface?
I’m easily as down on the MSM as you are - but I’ve also known people in that profession who were as honest, hard working, and brave as our best citizens.
Because of creeps - like the ones you’ll see in this link - it’s easy to forget the good ones.

No rumor is true until the government denies it...
In their view, O's just getting back at the 'Man', by spending the 'Man's' money. And they live vicariously through him. It's stupid and insane IMO, but that is exactly how people think.
Security in place at Sidwell? Not noted on visit there last year to see a football game. No checkpoints, no apparent security, just a football game in the snow and sleet....very cold!
I just watched the video.
Ugh.
But in fairness to them, I don't hide my identity on Free Republic and if someone got hold of some of what I've written here and turned it into a video, I'd have to spend quite a bit of time rounding up lots of liberal Democrats willing to say the truth that whether I agree with people or not, I do deal with them honestly and I try to deal with them fairly.
In my context in a military community, being strongly conservative by national standards means being middle-of-the-road by local standards, and most of the Democrats aren't even that far away politically. It's hard to find a real liberal around here, but not impossible. Publicly identifying myself as a Republican conservative is not a problem and actually helps avoid wrongheaded views that everyone in the media hates the military.
OBAMA PAY THE BILLS OUT OF HIS OWN POCKET??? Hey, WE are his pocket. The American tax payer is Obozo’s wallet. He just reaches in and pulls out hat USA Taxpayers Credit Card and slides it right across and we are more in debt.
“FR has a long standing-policy of a hands-off approach to personal comments posted about the children of politicians. Too bad the Obamas will use their kids as political props when they see fit while simulataneously demanding privacy for them.
But FR will still adhere to our own standards even if the Obamas cannot and will not do so consistently.”
Agreed wholeheartedly.
This is not Alternet, the DailyKos, or Moveon.dork.
Scrubbed it along with his college record and his birth certificate and any tapes of him laughing at capitalist pig-dogs.
This shows extremely poor judgement on the part of both of the Obamas. I am SURE the director of the US Secret Service implored the President not to push ahead with this trip because of the security risks. The First Daughter is a tempting target for the cartels. I was shocked to read the number of SS agents as that is usually classified. Mexico is incredibly violent and the police and military are notoriously corrupt.

Ditto, ditto, ditto! My thoughts on this exactly. This whole thing only confirms my already-held opinion that Obama is dumb as a post. Even 25 SS agents would not be enough to protect those kids if the cartels decided to lob all their manpower against them, to gain the kids as a bargaining chip. What an incredibly stupid decision, to let those kids go down there right now. Duh.
Thanks for that LOL this A.M. It was just that (for me) a picture of the wrong buttons being hit (repeatedly) manifested itself.
On a lighter note, you know people in the media who don't look down on the military? Good one. I've got a bridge I'm selling - cheap. Just don't have the time to count all the money I make every day ...
Thanks to Obammie the Commie's marxist policies, our country's tourist spots, resorts and the like are feeling great hurt. Many tourist-related businesses are not owned by big corporations, but by folks like you and me desperately trying to keep one step in front of bankruptcy. A late freeper friend of mine and his wife owned a motel in touristy, beautiful, interesting and historic St. Augustine, Florida.
Think of the money that could have been spent by this large school entourage at some American point of interest.
Instead, Obama and Moochelle chose to send them to a foreign country.
Plus, vacationing in the good old U.S. of A. certainly would have taught the darling little princesses some measure of value and patriotism of keeping scarce money in the family, i.e., our American economy.
