An AFP report that President Barack Obama’s 13-year-old daughter, Malia, is spending spring break in Oaxaca, Mexico appears to have been completely scrubbed from the Internet news sites that first reported it. Pictures have appeared in Mexican magazine Quién.com allegedly showing Malia in visiting Oaxaca.
AFP first reported around mid-day Monday that Malia Obama was vacationing in Mexico with 12 friends under the protection of 25 Secret Service agents and a number of local police officers.
The International Business Times reported that, “the group arrived in Oaxaca on Saturday and reportedly visited the architectural site of Mitla.”
The Department of Public Safety, a Texas law enforcement agency, issued a warning on Tuesday against students against celebrating their spring breaks in violence-torn Mexico.
The Huffington Post reported that in February, the United States State Department “recommended that Americans avoid travel to all or parts of 14 or 31 Mexican states. It’s the widest travel advisory issued by the U.S. since Mexico stepped up its drug war in 2006.”
Since the story was first reported, it appears to have been scrubbed from a number of news outlets. The Huffington Post, International Business Times, The Australian, The Telegraph and Global Grind have all removed the article, and AFP, which initially reported the story, now links to an unrelated story on “Sengalese superstar Youssou Ndour.”

A Secret Service agent on the advance detail got into an “altercation” with someone after a night out and was badly beaten, according to the law enforcement reports.
Both twins are in Argentina, though no one will say why.

It is not a good idea to comment at all here at Free Republic on the security measures of the President’s family. This is because the Secret Service monitors postings on Free republic, and therefore it can involve a high degree of personal risk if one comments in a way which poses a prima facie security risk to the travel party involved.
You could get a knock on your door. We have a nationalist socialist as president. Think carefully about it, or if you post, think very carefully about what you say.
Unless you are running a sophisticated IP address security program, your IP address is readily available to the Secret Service, and a trace to your physical location could take only a very few minutes.

My understanding from another FReeper, is that this is a yearly school organized trip, not Sring break as we think of them.
Well, my grand-kids are having spring break next we (grandpa and grandma) are taking them all camping and we are paying for it our selves.
Maybe the media woke up to the fact that after thousands of Obama vacations and millions of stories people are completely sick of hearing about them.
The articles were current and available news when posted, and apparently were scrubbed for demeaning, nasty comments.
That’s different than the entire news coverage about it
being scrubbed ... and under what threats, when presidential and family trips have always been covered news.
If you were President of the US and your daughter was vacationing in Mexico, would you want the world to know? Not enough SS or local police, militia to protect her.

Then again, I doubt it is true, the wookie wouldn’t let her go by here self. She would rather fire up one of Obama’s big state jets and fly down there with her, being queen and all.
