I wouldn’t be surprised if Karzai is already quietly making deals with the Taliban to keep his seat (and his head) after the U.S. leaves, or is asked to leave. If he fails to achieve that, I’m betting more than a little bit of our nation’s treasure that’s been spent on building up Afghanistan has found its way into numbered accounts to ensure that Karzai has a rather comfortable life in exile.

the guy gives Salauddin and Akbar as examples of the “nice Moslem” — firstly you have to really hunt to find some. Secondly, in the middle-east Saladin isn’t as revered as his successor who slaughtered Christians and Jews. And Akbar tried to create his own syncretic religion that wasn’t Islam.
