~The FReeper Canteen Presents~

Road Trip: The Air Force Research Lab, Ohio

The Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) is a scientific research organization operated by the United States Air Force Materiel Command dedicated to leading the discovery, development, and integration of affordable aerospace warfighting technologies; planning and executing the Air Force science and technology program; and provide warfighting capabilities to United States air, space, and cyberspace forces.

The Laboratory was formed at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio on October 31, 1997 as a consolidation of four Air Force laboratory facilities (Wright, Phillips, Rome, and Armstrong) and the Air Force Office of Scientific Research under a unified command.

The Laboratory is composed of 8 technical directorates, 1 wing, and the Office of Scientific Research. Each technical directorate emphasizes a particular area of research within the AFRL mission which it specializes in performing experiments in conjunction with universities and contractors.

AFRL's mission is leading the discovery, development and integration of affordable warfighting technologies for America's aerospace forces. It is a full-spectrum laboratory, responsible for planning and executing the Air Force' science and technology program.

AFRL leads a worldwide government, industry and academia partnership in the discovery, development and delivery of a wide range of revolutionary technology. The laboratory provides leading-edge warfighting capabilities keeping our air, space and cyberspace forces the world's best.

The lab employs approximately 5,800 government people, including about 1,400 military and 4,400 civilian personnel. It is responsible for the Air Force's science and technology budget of nearly $2 billion including: basic research, applied research, advanced technology development and an additional $1.7 billion from AFRL customers.

Since the Laboratory's formation in 1997, it has conducted numerous experiments and technical demonstrators in conjunction with NASA, Department of Energy National Laboratories, DARPA, and other research organizations within the Department of Defense. Notable projects include the X-37, X-40, X-53, HTV-3X, YAL-1A, Advanced Tactical Laser, and the Tactical Satellite Program.

The laboratory and its predecessors have overseen more than 80 years of critical research efforts for the Air Force and DOD. Its technology breakthroughs can be found in all of today's modern aircraft and weapons systems, including the F-117 stealth fighter, B-2 bomber, C-17 airlifter and the F-22 fighter. It has contributed to significant advancements in modern communications, electronics, manufacturing, and medical research and products.

Bring them home or for God's sake, LET THEM WIN!!! We've been in this place before and the valiant efforts of our troops in a just and honorable cause were undone by weak-willed politicians and a media that is nothing more than a claque of Commie Fifth Columnists!

My hat is off to our troops of today - of all branches. Their performance under hobbling ROE's in the face of a brutal, barbaric and remorseless enemy is nothing short of magnificent. Get the bureaucrats and politicians out of their way and let them do their job!

Just some maundering from an old broken down FMF corpsman. To all my Brothers and Sisters now serving, in any branch, Semper Fi! We love you all! And we're damn' proud of the job you've done! As we used to say in 3/5, GET SOME!!!

Nos genuflectitur ad non princeps sed Princeps Pacem!

Listen, O isles, unto me; and hearken, ye people, from far; The LORD hath called me from the womb; from the bowels of my mother hath he made mention of my name. (Isaiah 49:1 KJV)

Vet said Sol came through splendidly.. All sewed up.

She has to spend the night.

Robert is (apparently) out of surgery and posting on Facebook (that's how I found out he's out of surgery). He's requesting someone bring him a cake-n-shake milkshake (whatever that is). His post was made 12 minutes ago. He appears to have made it out of surgery just fine.

Thanks for the prayers.

Sounds like all are on the mend. Hope they do the trick for kitty.

Sol will really be glad to see YOU in the morning.

Wow, that’s a lot of cookies. Did you and some of your sisters bake together?
