Turnout for the GOP Primary in Puerto Rico higher than expected. It helps that the local parties are having their own primaries, and you just walk from the local to the GOP primary next door.
As they didn't have many election officials (only one at my voting station), people were voting openly right there at or near the registration desk. I saw a lot of Santorums and Gingrichs, but not a one Romney - the heavily favored PR GOP establishment candidate.
I didn’t vote for Santorum not because he doesn’t have a point regarding English as the language that binds our nation together, but because they were made out of ignorance.
1. There’s no law that mandates this, as he stated.
2. English is not a problem in Puerto Rico. It is widely sopken and it is the goal of every parent that children become bilingual.
3. This was not a requirement for admission for any other state.
He was warned of all this, yet he plowed ahead with his comments.
In all honesty, I was going to write Sarah Palin in, but hey.
Closed.
About half of the people here favor statehood and about half oppose it. IMHO, those who oppose it do so because they want the IRS out of their lives.
Polls now closed.
Worse than I thought
<1% in
Romney 92 88%
Santorum 10 9%
Paul 1 1%
Newt 0 1%

Okay, nevermind how someone gets 0 votes, but still manages 1% of the vote. Looks like the blowout most expected.
I’m looking for a link with the results as they come in.
Thanks for the link.
With 3% reporting it’s 88% to 6%, Romney/Santorum
Romney will slaughter Santorum, Gingrich & Paul in Puerto Rico!!! PR will vote for statehood this November. Santorum was not too bright bringing up language in PR. Between Pureto Rico and Mexico, the USA has millions of legal Hispanics (natural born Americans) that are very loyal to the USA, served in our military, and died in USA wars from the Revolution to Afghanistan in the case of Mexicans and from the Spanish -American war in 1898, in the case of Puerto Rico. The second most spoken language in the world after english is spanish. I am totally against illegals of any stripe, period. But.....one should study the history of USA Hispanics before opening their mouth relative language usage!!!
Puerto Ricans served under Gen. Bernanrdo0 Galvez during the American Revolution.
A little late now. Latest results from Puerto Rico with 7% reporting:
Romney 8,208 81%
Santorum 954 9%
Gingrich 370 4%
Paul 125 1%
God bless you.
Very happy you voted for Newt!
God Bless you and Sarah. Here’s to 2016!
