Turnout for the GOP Primary in Puerto Rico higher than expected. It helps that the local parties are having their own primaries, and you just walk from the local to the GOP primary next door.
As they didn't have many election officials (only one at my voting station), people were voting openly right there at or near the registration desk. I saw a lot of Santorums and Gingrichs, but not a one Romney - the heavily favored PR GOP establishment candidate.
I can’t find any info on what happened to the MO primaries yesterday. Good luck in PR today.

Good choice.
I like how they put photos on the ballot.

Well, all things being equal, the voting Democgraphics that have favored Santorum and Gingrich are heavily present in PR:
(1) Males
(2) Evangelical/Religious
(3) Conservative/Somewhat Conservative
(4) Total Income Less than 100K
However, PR has had a history of voting for the establishment candidate (they voted Bush over Reagan in 80 and Clinton over Obama in 08).
Projections I had for every 100,000 in the 5 District Total are the following. However, because of the tendency for specific voting blocks to vote in “groups”, I am either totally on the mark (or totally wrong).
Romney (63,000-67,000) 63-67%
Santorum (21,000-24,000) 21-24%
Gingrich (7,000-11,000) 7-11%
Paul (1,000-3,000) 1-3%
Whoever wins, it’s probably by a majority and big.
A tradition carried over from when most people here were illiterate.
I heard a bunch of Paultard were arrested at a caucus event yesterday for trying to bully their way in. I haven’t had a chance to check up on it yet.
Would love to see Romney defeated in PR!
Thanks Cll - Are you Boricua or did you move there? Lord, I miss good island food out here in Arizona.
Lot’s happened yesterday in MO. All 52 delegates went to Rick Santorium. Videos all over on the rumbles with police called in
Born and raised here.
That’s not what ABC news was reporting. There’s reports that Romney/Paul slates teamed up over the state to overpower the Santorum delegations, with Ron Paul possibly winning the MO Caucus.
If this is correct, then I agree with Newt that the whole process is a joke.
You’re whistling past the graveyard. Romney will win Big in PR.
THX
I may be incorrect...last night I read that all went to Rick and no Romney delegate spoke out against it...but not I can not find the story to post...until I do, ignore what I said earlier and carry on
I think that your predictions are right on the money, and this is coming from a Santorum delegate in PR. PR didn’t just vote for the establishment choice GW Bush in 2000, it gave him 94%!
It won’t be known what happened in MO until June, but I SUSPECT that Romney must have swept those caucuses considering how confusing it was to the Santorum backers.
Yes, I am. A guy can wish.
