Newt Gingrich basks in the spotlight Obama shined on him

To Newt Gingrich’s profound joy, the White House has continued to tangle with him over his promise to bring gas prices down to $2.50 a gallon, giving a sort of shout-out to his struggling campaign and a little weight to his contention that only he can go toe-to-toe with the president.

Without mentioning Gingrich, Obama said: “There is no such thing as a quick fix when it comes to high gas prices. There’s no silver bullet. ... The president also mocked “a lot of the folks who are running for a certain office -- who shall go unnamed” -- for ridiculing alternative energy sources. “They make jokes about biofuels,” he said. “They must have been founding members of the Flat Earth Society.”

The president also mocked “a lot of the folks who are running for a certain office -- who shall go unnamed” -- for ridiculing alternative energy sources. “They make jokes about biofuels,” he said. “They must have been founding members of the Flat Earth Society.”

Gingrich, who has pummeled Obama mercilessly for touting algae as a possible fuel source, retorted that Obama “apparently belongs to the Flat Earth Sierra Club Society.”

“I don’t ridicule biofuels. I support biofuels,” he said. “The idea that algae is a solution this summer is a fantasy, and he knows that it’s a fantasy.”

There’s no silver bullet. remember when Sarah Palin even had a map with targets on it to point out districts, it was all over the news..now Obama mentions a silver bullet, but it is not connected to the Gifford's shooting

Christie...you are one hell of a woman! I have been so discouraged from time to time, truly, but I come back to FreeRepublic, see your posts, and know I am not crazy for supporting Mr. Newt with such a big heart. Somehow, some way, Mr. Newt will find a way to scratch his way back to the top. As long as he does not quit, neither will we.

Obama is not paying attention to Romney or Santorum because they say so little that is interesting. I call it political two-steppin. No bold ideas, just ridicule for Mr. Newt's ideas. Then, you see Santorum taking on Mr. Newt's comparisons about the contrasts in this election. Does Santorum really think we are stupid and don't know what he is doing.

Someone presented the question if we could handle a Romney/Gingrich ticket. I had to laugh, and of course I could not resist saying that Mr. Newt would not take 2nd seat to Romney. And I know for a fact that Romney will never have the opportunity because Mr. Newt is going to whip his butt long before he gets the nomination.

Like I said, I don't know how, or even when, but I feel it in my heart. I have been wrong in the past, so I quite often remember my mother's words: “make your words sweet, because you will eat a lot of them in your lifetime.” As usual, she was right!

Thanks again for giving me a boost whenever I read your posts. Us Mama Grizzly’s have to stick together! EAGLES UP MR. NEWT!!! God bless you all here on FreeRepublic.

"Every time prices start to go up -- especially in an election year -- politicians dust off their three-point plans for $2 gas,” Obama said in a speech at Prince George’s Community College in Largo, Md. “I guess this year they decided, 'We’re going to make it $2.50.'"

During the Bush Administration, the price at the pump hit a high of $4.11/gallon, July 7th, 2008. President Bush promised to get gas prices back down. Through the action of President Bush, that price went down to $1.61/gallon by December 29, 2008. President Bush's promise to get the price down was fulfilled. The trouble was, Zer0 took the credit. By August 8th, 2011, the price of gas was up to $3.67/gallon.

I guess Zer0 thought the increase in gas prices would stimulate the new cars market when Americans decided to buy new gas efficient cars. Not! All it did was increase unemployment and costs.

The increase in gas prices was a promise kept by the Obama Regime.

“On Thursday, Obama defended his record, saying oil production is the highest it has been in eight years and that the number of oil rigs is at a record high. “

Obama is implying that high oil and gasoline prices are manipulated by “speculators” (his euphemism for the people who produce oil and for users who buy oil). Actually, It’s Obama who is the problem.

Oil prices are set by futures contracts, where oil companies and big constomers (like airlines) agree on a price at which a certain amount of oil will be supplied at some specified future date. In this manner, prices have everything to do with supplier’s perceived future supply of oil and the user’s business plan.

When Obama announced at the start of his presidency that he would put into practice energy policies like “cap and trade”, he made it difficult for an oil company to promise an airline and abundant supply of oil at a low price five years out.

This man should be the nominee Not the other.

GOP has played it's ignorance on this one.

Cannot believe that by now; they do not know the Liberal 'magic act' whereby Lefties make 'truth' disappear; whenever they speak. And so it is; that when Obama,Inc. named their greatest fear and threat as Mitt; it should have been an easy call to know who it was; they actually wanted as Repub opponent. And who it was/is, that they really feared

Clearly; a 'Brer Rabbit' MO at work here.

Other factors at play; of course; but 'willful ignorance' on behalf of Republican 'Establishment' the worst of it.

Newt is only candidate who so understands history; that he is able to read the handwriting on the wall per America's future; and the only candidate, who has strength of mind and will to take on the enemies, who wrote it.

“GOP has played it’s ignorance on this one”

There is no ignorance involved. It is a premeditated decision by those elites that want to keep the system and the money they make off that system.

If our country was at the abyss of economic disaster..as many claim..who would you trust to lead us back to stability? To me, only Newt has the vision and the capability. Like others, I pray for a “Hail Mary” in Tampa.

Very simple, of the 3 men left standing at Tampa, Romney is disqualified because of federal mandates and Obamneycare, and Santorum is disqualified because he cannot affirmatively prove that he is NBC.

Which leaves Newt as the only credible candidate to lead the nation after the evil Obama administration has brought America to her knees.

Newt will also run on a “national ticket” to include House and Senate candidates. I only hope he paints the dims as the Marxist sympathizers that they have morphed into after finally gaining control of the donkey party. No more kid gloves!!!

Skinny-legged, flop-eared President Obalgae is mocking someone? For real? Who does he think he is? None of us know who he is. He is the Great Mystery President. And he makes fun of us? We know who we are. We have papers.

With 175,000 Newt donors, if each donor gave an additional $200 each (on average) that would be $35 million.
