All,

I served with Bales for three years as his Platoon Leader. He is an absolutely outstanding Soldier, and what has transpired here is so out of character, I don't even know where to start. Please keep his wife and two young kids in your thoughts and prayers. He needs help. Hopefully he'll get it.

I believe post 4 hit the nail on the head pretty good. I think we will never hear the truth as to what actually happened that day. Every report will have to be cleared so Barry Hussein will not look bad.

God watch over our troops.

Yes, please pray! Bob is NOT a cold blooded killer. We aren’t getting the whole story. It is a tragedy, but there is a lot yet to come out. Also, let’s wait before we say more. NOTHING has been proved; innocent until proven guilty.

Screw what Karzai and Panetta say. Panetta is causing command influence that will have a bearing on any trial.

What a damned shame this all is. Of course, we know few of the actual details at this point, so speculation is just that - speculation. It does sound like he is a good man, though, who just snapped for whatever reasons. It also sounds like the docs should have held him stateside for a lot longer and perhaps permanently because of trauma and stress problems from previous tours.

Unfortunately, I suspect Sgt Bales will be tried and probably executed long before Maj Muslin Hasan's case is settled - and I would bet Hasan will just do jail time. There will be no hard labor as he is in a wheelchair.

Now that Sgt Bales has been publicly identified, it is quite possible they will come after his family for revenge and to make a point. What they are going through now must be awful. They have not only lost their husband and father, but his reputation as well, and they will live a long time in fear of retribution. They all need our prayers - and that includes Sgt Bales as well.

What I’m afraid of is...Now that his name has been revealed, some jihad-minded muzzies, demanding revenge for their dead, are now going to go after his family.

I hope to God that they are under strict protection.

I dare say...if anything should happen to them...

The first words out of my mouth when I heard about this incident were,”He snapped,he just plain snapped”.

I will pray for him and his family.

Multiple tours, unwavering valor, combat head injury.

Character assassination: "drinking" refuted by family.

Witnesses report "more than one"--was he even present.

Another provocation close on the heels of the "quran-burning" kabuki.

Muslim POTUS quotes "holy quran" never holy Bible--and has used CIA and NATO to further the Arab Spring systematic replacement of secular regimes with islamist ones.

The U.S. soldier is hammered--while the jihadi time bomb Hassan is coddled--"workplace violence"?

"I will stand with them"

I will stand with Bales and our defenders.

They have been sent to build sandcastles cemented with their blood and are betrayed by traitors in positions of power.

We need one more regime change--is it not significant Panetta must disarm our troops before he can lie to them.

From the article: He also said the accused had witnessed his friend's leg blown off the day before the killings

The plot thickens, Lancey. Remember the little girl from Haditha who said they were waiting for the IED to blow?

It will be interesting to find out if the village attacked is also the same area in which the friend's leg allegedly was blown off.

Who was the lieutenant who had to catch and release an insurgent he was certain was the killer of some of his troops? As I recall the Lt ended up charged, but the killer ended up dead.

As always, you were right. These things bear watching and interpreting.

Thank you for your service and for this most important post.

I work with veterans of these wars at the VA. When I first heard the story my first thought was of PTSD and the multiple deployments. The American people have NO-NO-NO clue what these brave men are and have gone through. Most people have no idea of TBI, PTSD and what the effects/problems are.

Heck, most Americans have NO clue what war is.

I am heartbroken for this man and he and his family need our prayers...and when the time comes our loud and strong support of him. ..our loud and strong denunciation of the anti-military Liberals that created this monstorous multiple deployments, lack of care for our veterans and then, maligning the good and strong.

Where the hell are all the anti-war protestors when the military gets cut, when there are these tragedies? F...g phonies they are!

I also hope there is a fund started for a “dream team” of attorneys and support for his family.

I am just so angry and so sad.

My heart goes out for him. I will close with that. If I said one tenth of what I felt about the bastards that inflicted the imposter that currently occupies the White House on him and me I would probably get banned.

I will most certainly keep them in my prayers. When I heard the words” traumatic brain injury” I wondered how he could have been cleared for duty. This particular injury alters and ultimately changes everything..normal processing..personality etc. But with all of the deployments..it would seem that the powers that be are more concerned with “warm bodies” for deployment rather than the health of our service members.

PTSD is a horrible thing. My last combat exposure was five years ago and I still drop whenever a sudden noise occurs; God help the Sargeant. OIF vet

Do you think that the U.S. should get out of Afghanistan at this point, that all the main objectives have been reached; and now that Karzai and others are making noises to have Americans out of their country, should we leave?

It isn’t fair to tie the hands of the soldiers in so many ways, and have the Commander in Chief and his regime keep on demoralizing our soldiers. It puts them more in harm’s way than normal.

I tell you, when the Clintons were “ruling”, Hillary’s hatred of the military and Clinton’s cavalier use of the military took the cake. The cynical Obama puts the Clintons in the shade.

FSE,

I am so proud of you for your service and for stepping up and representing one of your Band of Brothers from Iraq. This is truly an act of a combat proven leader. Thank you for your service, your integrity and your leadership.

Know that you, your family and SSGT Bales and family are in our prayers. I am so grateful for the sacrifices that our military members and their families have made. I'm proud of the military for getting him out of the country and know that some careers may have been sacrificed for that effort.

This is a courageous act. I salute you for it.

OUCH!

It was clear that you had inside information from some prior posts, but I never dreamed the relationship was so close.

I've had some long discussions with my niece about not wanting to see her on FOX News someday as the “poster girl” for soldiers torturing people or shooting civilians. Let's just say the South Korean rules under which her father and grandfather served in the ROK Army allow far more leeway than the United States — “kimchi temper” is not a joke for Korean soldiers.

However, that's hypothetical. What you're dealing with is blunt force reality and I feel horrible for you.

Prayers for your wisdom and for Bales.

I hope his wife and children have been whisked off to a very secure place. I had read earlier that he had a traumatic brain injury but had been declared fit to serve and deployed to Afghanistan in spite of it.
