Opinion: Why "Doonesbury" gets it wrong
CNN ^ | 3/15/12 | Melinda Fredricks

Despite opponents’ claims to the contrary, the real controversy concerning the newly enacted Texas Sonogram Law is that it took an act of the legislature to give women considering an abortion the information they deserve about this medical procedure.

Great retort. I'm suprised CNN would post it.

Call it what it is, Informed Choice.

Liberals love to use the word “choice”, but they fear the word “informed”.

Ignorance is the tool of the Devil, and the Tyrant...

Doonesbury is rabidly anti-human. His ‘cartoons’ are testament.

Can you think of another “medical procedure” where information is purposely kept from the patient??

Isn’t that usually considered malpractice??

I'm disgusted that our newspaper is continuing to print the Doonesbury cartoon. What he and his ilk either do not understand or refuse to acknowledge is that women DO need to be fully informed about the life-changing "procedure". When I worked to get the Woman's Right to Know Act passed in Florida - which failed because of then senator Charlie Crist - so many of the opponents reasoned that such a law was unneeded because, "Women know all this already.". I also volunteered at a local Crisis Pregnancy Center and could verify that, no, women do NOT know it all. Especially the young ones!

The many women that I counseled who were post-abortion attested to the truth that women were not as knowledgable about their baby's development nor the risks of the abortion as presumed and that they were not really giving their fully informed consent when they signed the forms. What I find most unconscionable about this "snow-job" is that once women DO find out the truth - and they all eventually do - their heartache and self-recriminations can actually be more devastating to them that their perceived problems imagined by continuing with the pregnancy in the first place.

Abortion kills developing human life and also destroys women, men, families and society and, until the truth about it is widely known, it will continue to do so. There are tens of millions of "walking wounded" out there and their numbers and the repercussions will increase until and unless abortion is no longer the "simple little problem solver" it is played up to be but the absolute worst solution. I pray that in my lifetime abortion will not have to be made illegal because it will instead be UNTHINKABLE.

>>Doonesbury is rabidly anti-human. His ‘cartoons’ are testament.<<

As with all libtards, trudau trucks in logical fallacies, strawmen being his favorite. Of course, being his strip there is no opportunity for anyone to point out his fallacy so he just uses a gag line in closing the strip or episode to claim victory.

He wants to a political Schultz but is just a political “Cathy.” Not 1/10 as clever as he thinks he is.

Asking why Doonesbury gets it wrong is like asking why flies like to hover around s**t.

My message at the Doonesbury website:

http://www.doonesbury.com/media/contact

.

I always respect Garry Trudeau when he throws a light on important realities: the insanity of US foreign and military policy ("Arab Spring"), torture, and death-dealing programs commonly concealed under political-bureaucratic bafflegab.

A picture is worth 10,000 words, and as a cartoonist, Trudeau knows this better than anybody in the business.

It's a matter of chagrin that he takes the opposite posiition in these abortion-related strips. Here he contributes to our acquiescence in higher levels of everyday killing, and jeers at at those who want us to see the truth.

The truth is in the picture, whether it's a cartoon or a sonogram.

But...Cartoons in the service of our national moral obtuseness, our preference for NOT seeing the picture?

I'm disappointed, Garry.. And I'm not, by far, the only one.

The Great Frank [ as he is called ] of The Right Perspective asserts that he coined that term. No matter who did it sure is accurate. Frank has announced that he will have to leave the show scale back due to health. Best wishes Frank.

Doesn’t matter. He is a very effective social engineer for the administration , and it pays well for him.
