President Obama got a laugh out of a Maryland audience on Thursday when he mocked the Republican Party in a speech, comparing their skepticism of alternative energy to the Flat Earth Society in Christopher Columbus day and President Rutherford B. Hayes apparent dismissal of the telephone. But while Obama thinks the GOP is in need of a science lesson, he may need to bone up on history himself.
In mocking the GOP, Obama cited an anecdote about Hayes in which, upon using the telephone for the first time, he said, Its a great invention, but who would ever want to use one?
Thats why hes not on Mount Rushmore, Obama said. Hes explaining why we cant do something instead of why we can do something.

“The Hayes Center in Fremont, Ohio is worth a visit. And while youre in the area, visit the Garfield home in Mentor”
I would recomend a stop at Fremont Speedway as well!
I listened to Obama for about two minutes. That was all I could take. His ridicule and put-downs made me want to throw something at my TV. I cannot stand him (but still won’t vote for Romney).
Speaking of the village idiot, a sand dune somewhere is missing it’s idiot Obama. The Hayes Center will be enjoyed by all ages. Great place to visit in Ohio not far from the turnpike.
Just remember, Americans — that if we stood this clown next to Newt on the stage ...it would absolutely demonstrate his idiocy and ineptitude, for the world to see.
Newt IS the one who could do it — deftly and swiftly.
It would be an absolutely beautiful sight to behold ...and yet it’s possible we are we’re throwing this chance away.
The development of petroleum near the end of the 19th century did far more to save the whales than leftists ever did.
I agree. Newt was never my first choice but I could live with him and would take him over Romney for sure.
1. There seems to be no end to this mans stupidity.
2. Whoever writes his speeches needs to get fired. Isn’t there anyone on his payroll that can proofread his garbage before he makes himself look like more of a moron than he already is?
NO ROMNEY! And the harder Fox News pushes his candudacy, the angrier it makes those of us who have no intentions of voting for him. NO ROMNEY!!!
Newt is the ONLY one! Thank goodness he is hanging tough! But, remember, he needs our help financially. He has a long way to go. A $10 or $20 dollar bill from his base of 175,000 donors would make a big difference for him, GIVE, NEWT PEOPLE.
In which of the 57 states did he make this speech...and were there any Navy Corpse-men in attendance?
I've said from the beginning that Maobama is little more than a well-spoken moron.
I don't expect Hussein to know US History. He is, after all, a foreigner.
“Regardless of all the unproven, unverified, undocumented, claims of his great education, the things he does and especially the things he says are just plain stupid.”
He is an affirmative action token, nowadays a common fixture in many workplaces.
Obama lives in a TBR world. - “Teleprompter Based Reality”
Hey guys, check this link from the thinker. Obama cannot even write proper English. Not surprising to me personally. I fully believe he was raised and educated in some Muzzie country somewhere. Anyway, the article skewers Obama's purported 'intelligence'.
The guy is as dumb as a rock about America, English, History, Geography, or anything else really, except maybe where you can score the best Coke while in D.C. Oh, and he knows how to quote Islamic prayers in Arabic.
Other than that, the guy is useless. He couldn't hammer a nail to save his life.
He’s trying to ridicule Gingrich, but at the same time taking his cue from Gingrich’s space speech (which of course he, all the Dems and Romney and Santorum ridiculed at the time) where Gingrich discussed Kitty Hawk and the Wright Brothers.
But of course, he missed the important points: the Wright Brothers were not part of the government, and the US government did not destroy the railroad or automobile industry in order to promote some new technology.
It was private inspiration, and the government maintaining a tranquil, honest society where entrepreneurs could compete that enabled us to take flight.
Barry is such a dim bulb. And Gingrich is the only one who has gotten into his head and the only one he feels he needs to fight against (in his own dim way).
I've seen this Lincoln "quote" (sorry, source unknown):
You may fool all the people some of the time, you can even fool some of the people all of the time. To fool all of the people all the time, though, you need to post it on the internet.
