Why did Santorum's totals in MS and AL differ from the last polls which showed him in 3rd place?

Did open voting which allows Democrats and Independents to vote in the GOP primary account for difference in Santorum's victory totals in MS and AL over the last polls which showed him in 3rd place? In other words, the MS and AL polls only polled likely GOP voters and the real voter population included Democrats and Independents. Also, did the Democrats sway the GOP primary results? Did Santorum robo call Democrats to vote for him?

I go with the crossover voters also. Dems would never cross over for Newt since he is known far and wide for eating them for breakfast. But, Santorum? Nada. Safe vote for dems. Just enough numbers to make the difference was all that would be needed in such a close race.

Hmmmm....maybe that’s a hint about November’s potential cross-overs.... Might out-number the dead voters....

When I voted yesterday, around 2:00, there were the same number of democrats voting as republicans. I saw the sign in lists, even steven.

Santorum connects well with the voters and he does it off the cuff.

Maybe the Sunday preachers put out a late call to vote Saintorum.

Maybe the debate had something to do with it, the night before the election. The crowd was electrified, and Santorum did extremely well and got a huge response.

(I thought Gingrich was better, but he was more intellectual and not as God-centered.)

"Thank you to everyone! As usual, we couldn't have done it without you and those liberal Democrats crossing over to vote for me because they think I'll go down faster than a 15-dollar whore in the general election. Once again, thank you all for making this victory possible!"

Who cares. Santorum beat everyone like a drum and is rolling on to the next states to keep slamming Milt.

Go Rick!

Open primaries are not right, it is not right for the rest of us who play fair and square and have closed primaries.

These open ones are made for stealing. I am so disgusted with the states that allow this, and the caucuses.

There is no way in hell that we get the Government we deserve.

My daughter saw comments on facebook just a couple of minutes ago from people claiming they felt dirty for actually voting in the Republican primary.

I thought this is the kind of thing you would expect to see posted on the Daily Kos or a Ron Paul forum. Has FR fallen that far? Why don’t you just post some Diebold conspiracy while you are at it?

Yep, and Santorum called them out. Trust me, NEWT has a plan and I trust NEWT to know how to handle all this.

You should have heard comments made by Democrats that voted for Rick in Michigan. They were interviewed by local tv here after they had voted.

Catfish and cheesey grits, ya’ll.
A lot of people here were offended by this carpetbagger’s condescension.

Open primaries are not right,

Just curious. Do you believe in the rights of individual states/groups/etc to establish their own procedures or do you subscribe to some other type mandate. I also expect that other races were on both parties ballot for such things as Representatives, Senators and maybe some local offices.

I doubt we’ll ever have a perfect system . Cross over votes will help defeat Obama come Nov. JMO.
