I want ALL to stay in as well. Any departures strengthen the “front runner” ( the one who cannot close the deal with millions of dollars of ads).
Right Santorum (and Newt) stand between Obamney or yet a other Bush. They are BOTH better than those two and light years ahead of Dear Reader.

At the risk of offending you, I will say that I believe that people are projecting onto Rick what they WANT him to be, not what he has been in the past and what he is now. They see a godly man and they WANT to believe that he is the whole package. There are actually a couple of other very personal things that make me hesitate on him but I am not willing to share those.
This bears repeating, re: people projecting what they want to believe Santorum israther than what he actually is (a two-bit SoCon statist with collectivist affinities).
This is exactly what people on the Left did with Obamatheir voters projected what they wanted to believe he was. Santorum is basically the Right's Obama.
Anyway, congrats on the wins, Santorumites. This at least helps us maintain a viable path to the convention. Neither Santorum or Gingrich can accrue the necessary # of delegates to win the nom outright, but we can at least prevent Romney from doing so.

I will tell you this, in all candor and friendliness as possible.
If RICK SANTORUM is the eventual nominee of this Party, you can take it to the bank that not only the editorial policy but the vast majority of FREE REPUBLIC is going to be SOLIDLY FOR SANTORUM AS THE NOMINEE and work their heart8s) out for him to derail Obama in November, as one united team.
You can either be a part of that great, historic movement, or otherwise, you are going to feel very lonely around this place, it will have left you, not vice-versa.

You’re wrong about that, too. If I say something, I mean it.
We’ll see what happens at the national convention if it takes that long.

I'm not crying for anything and you shouldn't be either. The Romulan, with all the king's horses and all the king's men, could but place third in these two states.
This is not a night for crying, ma'am.
And before the delegate/math wonks chime in, winning does matter because it shapes the public perception moving forward.

I haven’t been wildly enthusiastic for a candidate since Rick Perry left the race.
It’s been a roller coaster here. I’ll NEVER forget the thread on the night Herman Cain bowed out. My gosh, it was like a revival meeting, people praying he would stay in.
And he was totally unqualified. And Santorum was an afterthought.
I have no idea what happened. I do know a lot of people will be disappointed. Me, too. We could have done better.
But the time for rending one’s garments and gnashing of teeth will be past soon and we need to unite.
It’s important.

Of course I voted for McCain and all I got was Obama because the best repub wasn’t chosen. How’s the obama thing working out for you? Never again. I’m done going with the winning loser. Maybe we need another 4 years of Obama to get people to be serious. No Santorum . No Romney. No Obama. Not ever.

I keep telling people more emotional than me about Newt - some of us will have the honor of fighting against Barack Obama behind a candidate we love, and others will just the honor of fighting against Obama. Either way, it will be honor to do our duty.
HOWEVER, THE NOMINEE HAS NOT YET BEEN CHOSEN, SHARPIE :)

And if Newt isn’t the nominee for whom are you going to vote? Anyone other than the R is a vote for Obama...

I don't know. I'm just trying to uncover the cause of what looks like an irrational anger. We BEAT ROMNEY this evening. We should be HAPPY and not try to make the good the enemy of the perfect. Roll with the punches.
For the record, I'm happy with either man and do not wish to make enemies when we have a real enemy before us.

Newt Gingrich gave it his best, but he came up just shy of winning in Mississippi.
He sure did and wow what a nice guy he is. He really gave a wonderful congrats to Santorum and then went for the jugular on Romney. It was a great speech. This thing is long from over and Even if Romney wins every state that he believes he will, he will not have enough delegates. Newt will be in a great position at the convention. I was relieved when Santorum’s team said they will NOT ask Newt to leave. Early they said that Santorum asked that Newt leave but that was a nasty rumor (apparently). Bottom line is that both of them are in it to “smack” Romney back to Boston. Good Night and God Bless!

“No, young lady, you are emotioanlly invested in Newt. Thats fine and I understand it. But if he loses, by the popular vote of many conservatives across the country then you should get behind the candidate opposing Obama. Anything other than that is a vote for a communist pig...”
Well, gee, thanks for the “young lady”, but I’m 78. You have no idea where my emotions are so you are wrong about that, too. You vote for who you want, and I’ll vote for who I want - that’s the American way.
