Methinks the sergeant might be a Muslim.

“....the scum of the world, otherwise known as Muslims, stood in the streets cheering.”

.
That’s what happens when the country is so concerned with protecting their First Amendment rights.

We will turn tail and run just as the Soviets did, and uncounted other countries who took upon themselves to conquer Afghanistan. Those savages just rip apart every foreigner who ventures into their dark world. It truly is hell. All the world can hope to do with them is to try to contain them within their borders or nuke them to kingdom come.

There is, of course, no rational excuse for the killings.

That said, I hope that the sergeant gets the thoroughest of physical exams, including one or more MRI brain scans. It would be useful to rule-out such things as a tumor or other growths, or perhaps encephalitis of one kind or another (e.g. rabies or West Nile encephalitis).

Drug screening also comes to mind, although a positive drug test would not be what we need to hear right now.

Quite frankly I am shocked that we were able to send our people over there to get maimed and killed year after year with both hands tied behind their backs and there have been very few instances of this.

I figured it was just a matter of time before someone or even some units went Apocalypse Now on those Afghan asses and started playing war for real.

Agreed! War is not about nation building. War is about destroying an enemies threat for at least one generation. That is why war stinks.

They ROUTINELY feed our battlefield troops drug cocktails for depression, fatigue, PTSD, anxiety, among other things. These mixtures of drugs inhibit the NATURAL human responses to many situations where right and wrong become a fuzzy blur. It isn’t that you don’t know the difference, you just don’t care. I have been writing about this for over two years. I have been following EVERYTHING that goes on in afghanistan for far longer. If you check my profile page, you can see that for yourself.
These same ‘treatments’ are responsible for the major uptick in military suicides. It SHOULD be the focus of a major investigation, but it won’t be because it is cheaper than really treating them, and they can CLAIM they are ‘helping’ them.
On the meantime, it is a ticking timebomb and ONE just exploded.

Well, we are promoting the “good savage” theory in Afghanistan and our arm forces... so it goes without saying that naked domestic behavior instead of professional behavior will be the result.

Who gives a flying fig? Not me for sure,

Obammy apologizes for 15 or 16 dead killed by an American. Yet that many are killed by their fellow Americans in his home town of Chicago (or maybe in his old destrict) every damn weekend and not a whimper out of him.

“A REAL president like Reagan would never tolerate this third work bastard Karzai and would put him in his place in under a second.”

I agree with this statement. Karzai should be told to shut up, sing the praises of America, or be removed from office by our forces.

“Shut off all aid and bring our soldiers home. Let Afghanistan burn.”

I disagree with this. We cannot afford to let the Taliban win this one - even as distasteful as staying there is; we cannot afford to lose face and appear weak because it invites more agression from others. WE must seek out and destroy them all (Taliban), but change our ROEs and goals. The Karzai government needs to be deposed by us....no apologies to anyone - it is in America’s interests. We cannot leave until we pacify that country and leave a stable pro US government in place. And while we are at it the time has come to de-Islam Afghanistan. Militant Islam is the root and inciting cause of our problems in that region of the world. Sharia law should be abolished by us there upon pain of death to those that would resist. Freedom of religion should be established and enforced by us. NOT forced any religion, but true freedom of choice in religion....or no belief. That will help pacify the country. Of course, the people would be free to practice Islam.....but not militant Islam...or any other militant religion.

something is strange about the episode. Going amok is one thing, but why the lack of good information?

I don’t buy the brain damage part: however, the paranoia is consistent with the paranoia from taking Prozac for post traumatic stress syndrome.

And I usually criticize the anti prozac nuts who post here...

I won't rush to judgement regarding the specifics of the case as there is so much still out there.

What really stinks is that they are doing a darned good job witholding details on this alleged shooter, such as a basic military issue photograph, last name, physical description, race, etc. I would imagine going into the Pashto or Urdu based local press in Afghanistan for eyewitness accounts or something might yield, much more quickly than CNN or the DOD, what the story is on this guy. Something is fishy if they will not release those details. Arabic/Islamist (Nidal Hasan) type guy over sectarian issues? Black or other minority? Staged by Aghani disinformatizya as a premise to push out US troops all that faster?

I just don't know, and I would say anyone here might not know.

Having said that, in my research, I will say this: I saw local photos in some Afghan press that, because of their customs as differing from ours, would never see the light of day in the US and Western press, or would be blurred out. These were not blurred and were in full color.

If not staged, or a Reichstag fire to blame US troops, I can tell you with out a doubt that this in Kandahar was a most difficult scene to behold, especially of the little Afghani kids with half their heads' shot off and then bodies set afire like a barbeque--I guess they were just sleeping at the time. Too bad nobody got there (again if the charged is guilty) to have double tapped him ASAP and put him down on the spot. We are talking serious small Auschwitz and small Pol Pot/Killing Fields here, or a small Beslan. We are talking My Lai (Song My) village. Or, conversely, what the Vietcong or NVA did to what they considered traitors allied with the USA.

Look I know Islamofascists cutting off heads of "infidels" and suicide bombings have been horrendous as well. What I am saying is the crime scenes, if they are to be believed, are in one word "hell", and if this Sgt. in fact snapped or whatever and went and did these multiple acts, indeed, Lord have mercy on his soul, because certainly the Afghan people are not going to have any. Book it to the bank. I would NOT want to be a "round eye" in that place right about now.

I just realized I might have not been 100% sensitive to the fact that there may well be FReepers’ loved ones/relatives currently in the ‘Stan under extremely difficult circumstances now-as we speak, and of course I also have concern for their safety over this developing situation and the local reaction by Afghanis, and wish them (these US troops there for us) Godspeed, safe and successful completion of their mission, and safe quick return to the US and the ones they love here. Sorry about the choice of words and did not wish to worry anyone uncessarily about the increasing danger, with people out there in that place.

The U.S. has not tried to win a war since World War II. I submit that this nation, as constituted today, could not have won World War II, given the actions that had to be taken to win it. The way wars are won is to kill everything over there that moves until those left living beg you to stop; it is then that you will have broken their will.
Until we remember that lesson, we will only continue to screw around in Afghanistan and elsewhere.

Very good point. And you heard it here first ... at some point in the future we're likely to face this sort of thing right here in the U.S. with soldiers who return from Afghanistan permanently scarred from his experience over there in that sh!t-hole.

What really has me thinking right now is the realization that this sort of carnage may be far more effective in "winning" over there (whatever that even means) than any of the nonsense that the U.S. has been spoon-feeding them for the last 10+ years.

I read another account this morning that said he was seen leaving his post and walking off base and this was reported. They sent out search parties to look for him but by then he had already shot these people and was returning to base, where he surrendered.

So the villagers probably saw the search parties.
